A few thoughts on DOGE here.
1) My usual suspects across the street are already bitching and moaning about Trump, 5 bullet points Musk, taking orders from X, the boss hates Trump, Elon, etc (keep in mind this person is a GS-13 or GS-14) and at least the 2 years they didn't leave house they were in yard doing yard stuff.

TBefore the go-to-the-office order there would be 45-60 min BS sessions with neighbors and whomever else would stop by. Was told by this person, that the boss (that hates Elon) told them do not answer the 5 bullet points they are "classified." Uhhh, not everything, even in classified environment is classified....like say...this week 1) I hooked up the new computer, 2) tested our software on the new computer, 3) found an error in our code thanks to the new computer....nothing classified there. I really question how this person is even allowed access to classified data; then again....look around at who had a clearance until recently.

2) Contrasting that is this one: Dear friend of mine's daughter got hired into civil service last year as an HR person and is coming off probation. Keep in mind there are several thousand employees to manage. She's super motivated, and likely a lot cheaper than the old coffee-drinking, chatty Cathy gossip girls in the office...but, she's going to lose her job most likely due to the cuts. I feel bad for her because she's a great worker and is probably running circles around the establishment....hence...she'll be laid off. Sadly, the lesson she's being taught is Trump bad. Not that "people abused this system for so long YOU have to pay their price too."

So DOGE ain't perfect....seems #1 should be on the list and #2 kept. And dispite my hatred towards #1's politics, they were actually the only people in the area to help me when I got my first batch of covid and to take me to doctor for a procedure shortly after I arrived in town.
These things are always mixed results wise. Here in Canukistan Trumps policies mean at best several months of slow or-no work, but he is doing what he should be, even if it isn’t ideal for me.

IMO we are in for a rough ride for the next year or two, maybe longer. We will see a slow economy, weak stock market, and high unemployment numbers. This is going to be caused by massive layoffs in the federal government added to the private sector job losses we have been seeing and the slow down of federal tax dollars being distributed freely. The inflation rates we have seen over the last few years has made everyone reduce their purchasing, further slowing the economy. Will we actually see deflation?

But why now? Because the last administration was adding government employees very quickly to keep unemployment numbers down, along with faking the numbers and adjusting them later. Even though at the same time the private sector was loosing jobs. They were pumping money into the economy at an unheard of rate though these new government jobs and through the hand outs to their special interest groups. They were keeping a loosing war on the front burner to further launder money. Inflation.

Hold on and don't lose hope. This is probably our last chance.

I certainly don't disagree. Hell, my own job is at risk too. Definitely hired to keep unemployment numbers from looking as bad as they were.

This reminds of of the early Reagan years where it was at the tail end of the Volker interest hikes which was the only thing they could do at that time. Reagan got his tax cuts and the economy picked back up. Regulations (even then) were squashed in favor of Small Business.

Now though, we have a triple (or quadruple) whammy. Too many government jobs (city, state, federal), decreased tax base, printing money for all sorts of reasons other than the only reason (if any) they should be, etc, a military in shambles, real infrastructure (that really only the gov can supply) is crumbling (think FAA, bridges, etc).

Why just yesterday I saw some folks driving 70k cars that I find hard to believe could own one....which leads me to believe I was right all along...some folk have learned to game the system by way of graft (of course, that's not gaming...it's theft). Case in point...how does that Jasmine Crockett have 3 multi-million dollar houses? What did she do before she was a representative and how on a representative's salary does she afford that. A LOT of people are getting rich off MY FREAKING MONEY - dare I say MY STOLEN money?

Not so stunning poll. DemoCommies discovered to be lacking basic analytical skills of a common vole.

I've been using the wrong word all along.

"Graft" and "grift" are both words that refer to obtaining money or property illegally, but "graft" has additional meanings.
Graft
Can mean to acquire money or property through dishonest or questionable means
Can also mean to obtain money or advantage by betraying a public trust
Can also mean to propagate a plant by grafting or to implant living tissue surgically
Grift
Means to obtain money or property illicitly, especially through a confidence game
May have originated in the underworld as a term for a criminal who relied on skill and wits rather than physical violence
Examples of "graft" and "grift" in a sentence:
"The grafter is a person who takes and uses public money while not performing any public service".
"The grifter is a small-time confidence man, a carnival swindler, or thief of some sort".
The word "grift" may have evolved from "graft", which has been used in English since the late fifteenth century.

It is definitely going to get worse before it gets better, in many ways.

One time acting neighborly or a good samaritan does not equate to being competent, having integrity or worthy of service.

Fire them all, good people will have zero problem carrying on.

Oh, we don't disagree. I've said it many times before. This person would be chewed up in "industry" where if you don't perform, you're gone. My guess is they were "working" maybe 30 hours a week before going back to the office. And of that work, maybe 12 was doing actual "work." I once had a disussion with this person who let out what they were actually "working" on and the diatribe of how it sucked and this that and the other. Little did they know, I actually worked on that task myself many, many years ago and pretty much every word out of their mouth was complete rubbish. So agree, neighborly doesn't mean competent - by any stretch.

WHO is big mad they were taken off the U.S. gravy train.

Can anyone really listen to this tweaked out bitch? Holy Hell her shit is wired to tight. This is exactly the person we need to fire. I fucking promise she is not doing a thing to benefit taxpayers for her paycheck.

She is in that class of employee that goes to meetings where they all praise each other and regurgitate horseshit to one another complimenting each other on the great work they are doing. The only problem is they are not fucking doing any work.

At one job, we had this smoking hot girl, a recent college grad with an epic ass. She work athletic clothes daily and her yoga pants were the stuff dreams are made of. Her entire job consists of walking around seeing what the engineers and techs were doing and reporting back to her boss. She honest to God thought she was curing cancer.

Maybe she was curing ED instead?

When I was a kid, way back in the 70s we were in Ireland on a trip my father had won for # of sales over a year or something. Anyway at the currency exchange (somehwere along the way) my father spotted at the agents window I think a $10,000 bill. The time frame would suggest a 1000 dollar bill but Dad got the guy to show all of us kids the bill and we were told that'll be the last time you'll likely see one of these again. I want to think it was 10K, but probability was 1K as it'd be highly unusual for an exhange agent to have a 10K bill even then (flew from St. Louis to Dublin, back from Shannon to St. Louis).
Those were there but very rare. They were usually only used for interbank transfers along with the super rare 100,000 note
