New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

I'm sure Josh could double the close range stuff, oh well.
Other than JP, who makes a top tier complete Grendel rifle? They don't seem interested in home brew guns on 9 Hole. The JP Grendel I've shot would do well though.
JP would be a great choice.

Precision Firearms makes a bunch of different options with Criterion, Bartlein, and Krieger barrels, billet receivers, nice handguards, trick muzzle devices, etc.

Cobalt Kinetics has high-end Grendels in the CK-SPR Elite series.

SOLGW has at least a mid-grade options.

If they’re only showcasing sponsored firearms, that would make sense why they haven’t taken a Grendel through that course.

Yea I couldn't really see the hits all that well at that distance, I just kept putting the center dot on top of the shoot-n-see pasty and sending it. Went down to check it in person after that string and couldn't believe it. I am not surprised as it has shot 5 and 10 round .500" groups at 100 in the past so the accuracy of the setup is there. I was verifying zero on a few different guns today and unfortunately covered it up with another target before taking a pic. My thermal rig was off by nearly 6" which was alarming.
6 ARC is awesome. Nice work

Does anyone have any experience using this in precision competitions? I'm thinking about getting back into that, but my precision gasser is still a 5.56. Yikes. I'm currently weighing my options on 6mm ARC and 224 Valkyrie.

I searched the thread and didn't find this discussion.

PRS style I would go 6 ARC. Good factory ammo and good loads to load for yourself. You could always try it out with your .223 and get the feel and decide from there.

I put my 6 ARC together for the same use. I just bought a Grendel Hunter upper. Plan to get out soon to a match with it.

I did the comps with my 223 several years ago (2 new kids and a new business put it on the back burner). I could typically place middle of pack with 77grn SMKs, but it becomes un-spottable after 700m or so. Thanks for the rec, I was leaning toward that.

Yeah the .223 even out of a bolt gun is tough to spot out in the 800+ range. The 6mm is a little easier.
In full-value winds over 7mph, we often have difficulty spotting impacts with 77gr even at 450yds, especially on a plate that has been shot up with no fresh paint background. There just isn’t enough projectile mass or momentum to do much when 5.56 connects with steel. At 5mph and under, it’s a little more perceptible, but still anemic.

For me, after shooting and spotting for 5.56 since 1987, across a wide range of environments and conditions, for DM and steel target work, I really like the 80gr and heavier bullets. 75gr A-MAX/ELD-M is another great one, but isn’t mag-fed compliant unless you crimp the mouth over the ogive. Not exactly ideal, but I’ve seen it done, and it shot surprisingly-well.

But even the 6mm Dasher is hard to spot or hear at 700yds in moderate full-value winds from bolt guns, running hot from 25” barrels.

This is why 25 GT/25x47/25CM are gaining momentum in PRS. Shooting 133-138gr bullets with BCs that match heavier 6.5mm class bullets.

138gr A-Tip has the same BC as a 147gr ELD-M .695 G1/.350 G7

When you hit the plate, the RO knows it and you can still self-spot well with a good brake or suppressor/brake combo.

With Hornady filing with SAAMI for the 25 Creed, I hope it really gets adopted in the AR10 for the reasons mentioned as well as the fact you can load the heavy bullets to mag length (the heavy 6.5’s are either too long or pretty slow at mag length).

That said, I doubt the 6.5 creed is displaced and the 130 Berger ar hybrid is pretty potent from a gasser

Has anyone been able to clone the 108 eld-m factory ammo? Id be really curious which type/burn rate powder they are using. Im guessing an extruded single base?

Pulled some apart to try a Mexican match with an 110 ATip and it looked like CFE223 to me. Similar velocity to my loaded 110 ATips and CFE223 also.

I haven’t tried, been grabbing cases from Battle Hawk Armory whenever I start running low. They were selling 20 rd boxes for $23 a few weeks ago & even less by the case.

Another buddy of mine just put his 6mm ARC together with an 18" Proof stainless barrel.

Avg with 108gr ELD-M is 2523fps. Seems to shoot well, nice ejection pattern.
I just put one together with an 18” Proof barrel and SA AGB. Went full mass jp bcg and bolt like proof recommends. Also used scs from JP which is just the standard weight and I can’t even get the bolt to travel out of battery when I shoot. Gas is wide open. It takes considerable force to get the bolt to release and eject the shell by hand. I should be getting my borescope today so I can verify alignment. Hopefully it’s something dumb I did. Also running the huxwrx flow 6k. Not sure how long I’ll be using it though. It’s super loud.

You might need to try a different or lighter buffer, but I had the same issue with the JP bolt. I switched out their gas rings to standard 3 piece rings and that solved it for me.

There’s another really sick cartridge for the AR-10 that crushes all the others performance-wise.

It’s what I’m going to do when I get around to messing with AR-10s again, but I’ll do it in the Savage MSR-10 smaller frame I think.

Imagine 5.8 mils drop, 1.3 mils drift, 1104 ft-lbs at 900yds. Case is shorter than Creedmoor.

1000yds +7mil drop 1.5 mils drift 1637fps 964ft-lbs

I am running the same kit for a year now on both a 18" and 14.5" and I haven't any issues like that, something is off.
