Cheek weld is too thin IMO. Great idea poor execution.Just get a UBR
I like my beard.Just get a Vltor
Looks cool but it looks kind of heavy. That’s some work and $$$, to make the rifle more butt heavy and throw the balance point off on it. Especially when you could just throw Magpul DT-PR on it, save a $100 and keep the rifle balanced.Very nice! Re: mods you can make to the CTR stock here is a pic of a stripped FN lower I just built out for precision 223 Wyld and 6 ARC uppers.
- Magpul CTR Stock ($53)
- Arisaka CTR Bag Rider ($30) + Arisaka Stock Angle Adapter Lite with limber saver SL pad ($78) (Total: $108)
- Adjustable cheek riser for CTR stock ($58)
- BCM carbine length buffer tube

LOP is easier to adjustJust get a UBR
Very true. I have a DT-PR on my other lower and love it. Wanted to try this option, I initially only got the bag rider but then learned in order to install it you needed to get the angle adapter. A cheaper route would either a dt-PR or ctr with this kind of bag rider that’s stand alone for $20:Looks cool but it looks kind of heavy. They suck for bag work. I had a LMT DMR on my precision gassers, but they’re dumb pricy and stupid heavy…only keep one on my large frame now.Just get a SOPMOD

Dang.
Reminds me why an accurate 16" 5.56 is my favorite do-all configuration.
I put a SPR together in the mid 00's when they were first getting popular. The very first day with wind convinced me the SPR concept is a failure outside of Army logistics. They look cool, they are not cool. That was a nice run. I like that he hammered the closer range TGTs, as you basically can’t miss them even with a clapped-out M4 if you apply even mediocre fundamentals.
That video illustrates perfectly what I’ve been saying about how anemic 5.56 is though on steel. They need to shoot a suppressed 12” Grendel on the course and watch and hear how hard it impacts, and how easy it is to connect and self-spot.
The TGT feedback is so much more rewarding.

It hurts, I get it, but you know I'm right.
Meh. In the east. Where wind doesn’t blow that much. And blows less most nights. To 5-600 yards. With a lot inside 3-400. Works great for things. Especially with hot 77tmksIt hurts, I get it, but you know I'm right.
So you agree with me. That's basic bitch ranges.Meh. In the east. Where wind doesn’t blow that much. And blows less most nights. To 5-600 yards. With a lot inside 3-400. Works great for things. Especially with hot 77tmks
How far are you trying to shoot with a low recoil semi auto ?So you agree with me. That's basic bitch ranges.
How far are you trying to shoot with a low recoil sent auto ?
If most stuff is past 500 I’d bring a 6.5cm

I hope the Hide never changes...
Everywhere else on the net: "The average police sniper engagement is 72y.....you can't justify a civilian shoot beyond 50...maybe 100y". Blah...blah...blah
Hide: "Why the fuck are we talking anything under 800y?"

Picked up one of the Black Friday blem uppers. I’ll report how it compares to others uppers that are semi monolithic and monolithic I have.
How was the quality of the blem upper? The fact that they mention dents makes me hesitant.
I run a standard sopmod (with a beard) me use an elastic on the front of the latch. Also allows me to stash a sling in it. No issues from bags. Can still shoot 3/4" MOA with the RD15.This latch and bag rider make the SOPMOD stocks a lot better with a rear bag:

You’d be hard pressed to find any blems on my upper. Looks great.
Hell yeah. Just ordered one.
Re the discussion of stocks:
I have the CTR with Arisaka angle adapter/bag rider and adjustable cheek riser (Matthew's Fabrication). I've tried many other stocks, this setup just works for me. It balanced well with my PRI MK12. We'll see how it balances with this upper.

They copied KACs homework but missed the parts you mentioned. Probably works just fine, but then again so would a traditional set screw gas block. 5.56 guns are not temperamental in terms of gassing, a sealed system is far more significant (IMO) when you step up to large frame.Fair enough. I'm excited to see these rifles out in the wild. I appreciate your engagement in this thread.
I don't see 10 shots?Consecutive groups while trying to get my fundamentals / follow through consistent

It wasn’t really designed to be removed outside of factory settings…but a lot of heat is what you need.Any secret to getting this handguard off? Without putting anything in a vice, I can't even get it to move.
That's what I was afraid of. Are we talking heat gun or torch? It wasn’t really designed to be removed outside of factory settings…but a lot of heat is what you need.![]()
A Midwest Industries upper receiver rod is your friend. That's what I was afraid of. Are we talking heat gun or torch?
Alternative... Know of any strap wrenches thin enough to fit between the hadguard and a muzzle device? The advised 30-35 ft lb seems a bit much to crank down on the barrel with only the receiver in a vice.
I used a torch and tapped it off. Hindsight I would’ve either mounted an old optic mount of some sort and used that to tap the handguard off or put the handguard in a vice and tapped the receiver at the lugs to remove it.Any secret to getting this handguard off? Without putting anything in a vice, I can't even get it to move.
