What did you do in the reloading room today?

Can we get some pics of the rifle? It's a long action?

There was a picture of it in the original post, in the fog on Range 4.

Marines using the 1K range yesterday so I had to settle for steel @ 700 zzzz.

Loaded some modified 6.8X 51 mm hybrid cases to 308 Win in a long action 8 twist.
For maximum 308 Win performance.
230 gr Atips at 2700 fps, then on the opposite end...
Some 110 gr Barnes around 3750 fps.

No but let me know if you find it. Probably all in Ukraine
Has anyone seen any 223 Rem Lapua brass in stock?
Apparently not all of it ,although sure as hell isn't inexpensive ; Keep in mind Finland is bolstering Defense Pac for alignment with NATO ,so could account for less available .

Because I'm dumb. But there are a lot of reason I shoot the WM. I had a spare suppressor sitting around I wasn't going to use on the Norma. Wanted something cheaper to shoot. Have plenty of powder that was in the WM range. And most important, can't be a AI owner and have 1 barrel.

What are the chances I managed to spot this fella as I was pulling this bag out to look for other pills? Empty as my head. Brand new bag, I just gotta remember where I bought them...I reckon reloading should never be taken lightly...see what I did there..? ;)

If you using a single stage press, you’d think you’d pick up on that pretty quickly.
A progressive with bullet feed, you could have problems!!

If you have 300 NM, why 300 WM?
I have a 300 RUM but also like the 300 WM.
The 300 WM is more economical in the days of expensive components.
Just put the 300WM in an aluminum chassis add a long 3.715" or 3.850" detachable mag box.
So as to really increase the usuable case capacity of the 300WM case.

When loaded with the same slow powder and 240 gr bullets in 26" barrels 3.650 for the standard 300 NM COAL .
And now with the longer mag box 3.725" for the 300 WM ...the advantage to the 300 NM shrinks to just 49 fps with max pressure in both according to QL.

The high cost of 300 NM ain't worth 49 fps extra velocity in its standard form for a 240 gr bullet, when all ya have to do is a chassis and a long detachable mag.
It take quite a bit more powder to get this large cartridge up to pressure.

So loaded the longer COAL the 300WM and its pretty close to the 300 NM with 230 gr SMK at 2962 fps, or 200 SMK over 3200 fps.
But you can do the same with the 300 NM to get more case capacity.
My 300 RUM feeds 4" cartridges for 230 gr and 250 gr Atips.

I have a variety of 223s but also have 2 222s, & 2 17 Remingtons....don't own a 221 Fireball, but I could....or maybe a 222 Rem Mag.
Own as many guns and calibers as you like...
And many times just one gun in that particular caliber is not enough.
Why have 8 308s?
What about all those 9mms?
Because you can. Life is good.

Just wondered
Not a big deal. I thought about it, the more sense it did make for me. Finding a M30 barrel for a AI isn't that easy as the short action M27 barrels. Even getting a 1.350 size blank, you are very limited on who has what without waiting for a custom order to go through. I was going to get a 6.5PRC barrel, but running the numbers, it just didn't give me that more then a 6.5CM. Plus with the 300WM, it's easier to find components and have a wider range of bullets and powder choices I can go with. With the Norma, I have just settled on shooting the 245gr LRHT Bergers with N570.

Compared brass dimensions in New un fired to fired brass for my 22cm. Trying a lap and some srp brass that was necked down from 6cm. While shooting most all the srp brass(starline) was really tight in the chamber prior to firing, the lap (hornady) was not.

Starline necks are thicker.
