Ridgeline Defense RD-15 LPR

Very nice! Re: mods you can make to the CTR stock here is a pic of a stripped FN lower I just built out for precision 223 Wyld and 6 ARC uppers.

Looks cool but it looks kind of heavy. That’s some work and $$$, to make the rifle more butt heavy and throw the balance point off on it. Especially when you could just throw Magpul DT-PR on it, save a $100 and keep the rifle balanced.

Just get a UBR
LOP is easier to adjust

Very true. I have a DT-PR on my other lower and love it. Wanted to try this option, I initially only got the bag rider but then learned in order to install it you needed to get the angle adapter. A cheaper route would either a dt-PR or ctr with this kind of bag rider that’s stand alone for $20:

Just get a SOPMOD
They suck for bag work. I had a LMT DMR on my precision gassers, but they’re dumb pricy and stupid heavy…only keep one on my large frame now.

To the topic at hand, will receiver sets ever be available? I’m interested in the receiver but not willing to shell out $1800 for it just to sell off the barrel/BCG assembly.

This latch and bag rider make the SOPMOD stocks a lot better with a rear bag:

That was a nice run. I like that he hammered the closer range TGTs, as you basically can’t miss them even with a clapped-out M4 if you apply even mediocre fundamentals.

That video illustrates perfectly what I’ve been saying about how anemic 5.56 is though on steel. They need to shoot a suppressed 12” Grendel on the course and watch and hear how hard it impacts, and how easy it is to connect and self-spot.

The TGT feedback is so much more rewarding.

I put a SPR together in the mid 00's when they were first getting popular. The very first day with wind convinced me the SPR concept is a failure outside of Army logistics. They look cool, they are not cool.

How far are you trying to shoot with a low recoil sent auto ?

If most stuff is past 500 I’d bring a 6.5cm

A couple of things I should clarify. The RD15 is pretty great, like, really really great. The Ridgeline guys are some of the only voices in the industry that recognize the limitations of the platform wrt other cartridges (Grendel/ARC). They deliver a platform that happily lives inside the 5.56 envelope. They are simply at the mercy of the platform and cartridge. Their upper in ICAR length with a stronger bolt would be game changing. I'd like to buy a bare upper from them and load hot Grendel understanding the bolts are consumable around 1k rounds.

I live in the west. We're starting at 500.

So you agree with me. That's basic bitch ranges.

I hope the Hide never changes...

Everywhere else on the net: "The average police sniper engagement is 72y.....you can't justify a civilian shoot beyond 50...maybe 100y". Blah...blah...blah

Hide: "Why the fuck are we talking anything under 800y?"

:ROFLMAO:

I run a standard sopmod (with a beard) me use an elastic on the front of the latch. Also allows me to stash a sling in it. No issues from bags. Can still shoot 3/4" MOA with the RD15.

Might try these out though to increase bag rider contact.

You’d be hard pressed to find any blems on my upper. Looks great.

Hell yeah. Just ordered one.

Re the discussion of stocks:

I have the CTR with Arisaka angle adapter/bag rider and adjustable cheek riser (Matthew's Fabrication). I've tried many other stocks, this setup just works for me. It balanced well with my PRI MK12. We'll see how it balances with this upper.

Fair enough. I'm excited to see these rifles out in the wild. I appreciate your engagement in this thread.
They copied KACs homework but missed the parts you mentioned. Probably works just fine, but then again so would a traditional set screw gas block. 5.56 guns are not temperamental in terms of gassing, a sealed system is far more significant (IMO) when you step up to large frame.

I finally got to take the LPR to a PRS regional match last weekend. It was kind of a spur of the moment 5hr roadtrip. I'm waiting on a NF 4-16 to show up, so I threw my spare 4-20 on it and had gotten two range trips with appx 200 rounds through it before taking off. Instead buying some "match" ammo, I decided to shoot some Hornady Frontier 5.56 75gr ammo, since I had a couple cases of it laying around since pre-Covid. Not exactly world-beating ammo, ES of 90 over a 55 rd string, but the LPR seemed to shoot it pretty well overall. I have noticed that the barrel on mine seems to like being dirty. Other than a quick throat break in until copper fouling is minimal, I don't go crazy with cleaning usually just patch carbon out with C4. I don't know if its the Frontier ammo, but I've notice that it really settles in around 60'ish rounds after being cleaned.

This was the first time I've ran a 223 at a match. Being a "PRS" match I figured I'd be under-gunned with the 16", but I wanted to shoot with the homies and have some fun. The majority of this match was inside of 700. Even with the ammo choice and the wind that day, I didn't feel like I was giving up much. I came out of it thinking, considering the target sizes, inside of the 650-700 mark, there wasn't really any misses that were on the system that day. Made some hits out to 900 on 66% IPSC, nothing on the 2 targets beyond that (956 & 1041). The 1041 target was like 16.8 an elevation and was a 6.5 - 7.0 wind call, 😆. I was in the ball park with it but was completely impractical in the wind that day. I've got out to 1200 at the home range so it'll be fun to play around with it some more.

I'm really looking for to getting more time with this LPR and getting it setup with my KGM K can and the 4-16. I think its probably safe to say that these rifles just flat out shoot. It was a ton of fun to run a 16" 223 at the match. Maneuvering around props with a lighter and shorter rifle was a riot. Even considering my limited time on the rifle, I have the feeling that I'll probably be grabbing the LPR more often than my 18" 6.5 SP10. It's was just that much more forgiving to shoot it.

It wasn’t really designed to be removed outside of factory settings…but a lot of heat is what you need. 😉
That's what I was afraid of. Are we talking heat gun or torch?

Alternative... Know of any strap wrenches thin enough to fit between the hadguard and a muzzle device? 😂 The advised 30-35 ft lb seems a bit much to crank down on the barrel with only the receiver in a vice.

A Midwest Industries upper receiver rod is your friend.
