    Maggie’s Advise urgently needed---SRT or K9?

Re: Advise urgently needed---SRT or K9? If you get K-9 training while in the Corps and then decide to get out, you can go to work with another federal agency (i.e.;ICE or CBP) as a dog handler and your military time can count towards your retirement years. SRT would look good on a resume...

Were the M40 swivels blued, Parkerized, some of each? This is for the M40, not M40A1 or later. Thanks.

    Gunsmithing M40 Stock

Re: M40 Stock Photos would be wonderful, I want to get this right the first time. Again, thanks for your help on this. Strange thing about the stock, when I search "Remington 700 stock" through Numrich, this stock is not listed. I put in the item number and it goes to it.

    Gunsmithing M40 Stock

Re: M40 Stock Thanks Ray, does this one not have the typical BDL forend cap? They don't have a photo on the site. I already have a couple of aluminum butt plates, but thanks for the offer.

    Gunsmithing M40 Stock

Any new or recent source for a M40 stock? I've tried the ADL with pressed checkering route, but even after steaming the checkering out the best I can it takes to much sanding for the proper shape. Suggestions? Anyone know of one for sale? Thanks, Dave.

    M40 Build Guide

Re: M40 Build Guide XARMOR, First off, that is an incredible rifle. The photo on the ALICE pack is my computer background at work. I can see the rings are blue but I'm not sure on the mount, is it blue (polished or matte) or black parkeried? Thanks, Dave

Rifle Scopes New VietNam Commerative M40

Re: New VietNam Commerative M40 The Redfield base shown is the "Holy Grail" for the M40. It is marked 40X, it is not a standard 700 base. Notice the square corners and the location of the windage screws in relation to the rear mounting screw. I've never seen one for sale, EVER! The...

    Gunsmithing M40 finish

Re: M40 finish mjh, I have the same scope except mine is the earlier(?) model marked "Redfield 1" Tube". It is an Accu-Range though. The part I have had the hardest time finding is the base. I have NEVER seen on for a 40X for sale. I plan on using one for a 722 and bottom screw rings...

    Gunsmithing M40 finish

Re: M40 finish Thorax, I think we are talking about different rifles. mjh and myself are talking about the original M40. The info you provided would be correct for the M40A1. The original M40 was put together by Remington and used factory stock, Remington barrel, etc... The M40A1s were put...

    Gunsmithing M40 finish

I have a question regarding the various types and shades of finish on an original M40. Tell me if I am correct or not on these: Barreled action-Dark grey Parkerizing; Bolt and bolt handle-Matte black; Floor plate and bolt shroud-satin or gloss black. What about the base and rings? Parkerized or...

    Rifle Scopes Redfield windage screws

I need a couple of windage screws for an older Redfield standard scope base. Brownells sells Leupold windage screws but they are listed as for Leupold only. If you can swap different manufactures standard style rings and bases, I don't see why they wouldn't work unless the threaded portion is...

Rifle Scopes Redfield 722 vs 40X marked base

What is the difference between a square corner 722 base and square corner 40X base? I'm sure there is probably something obvious I'm not thinking of. Thanks.
