Rifle Scopes 20 MOA base on XTR II?

Tracking is close enough to perfect I can't see any error in any of mine. When I put a Burris base on my son's Bergara B14 HMR to mount a XTRII 3-15, it took me several rounds to figure out what was wrong. The Burris base was a 25 MOA rail, not 20. My Bad. :)

Question of the day. (Involves math)

1 Half & Half is 1/2 serving whole milk and 1/2 serving light cream. So, if you put in two... 2(.5WM + .5LC) = 1WM and 1LC You will have 1 serving of whole milk and 1 serving of Light Cream. So you are close. :)

    22 Nosler

I tried 3 AR-Stoner barrels, all were junk. Not worth the ammo to prove it again.

    .223 hates me... any thoughts?

I would go get a box of 20 rounds of match ammo and shoot that over the chrono. That will tell you for sure if it is the gun or the ammo. I suspect it is the ammo, but I would not guess at the ammo until the gun has been eliminated.

    16" .308 loads

That is a short barrel for the rounds you look to be assembling. In my 16" .308, I get the best results with lighter bullets and faster powders. Feel free to experiment, but I ignored the same advice at first. Not only will you get better ballistics, but your gas rings and bolt will thank you...

method to mark brass for number of times reloaded.

I keep a logbook in excel for all of my calibers (page for each) batches of ammo and gun round counts. I only take one batch of brass to the range (or hunting) and put it in a bucket or bin when I get home. For the precision stuff, I mark the bins. This rack is on wheels and come with the...

Hunting & Fishing What caliber do you pick for starting children?

When I turned 13, my parents gave me a Winchester 670A in .243Win. I just gave that to my youngest when he turned 13. My Oldest and I also hunt Deer and Pronghorn with .243Win. Great caliber that is simple and effective for medium size on down game. But I can't say that another caliber from...

    Hunting & Fishing Elk Hunters

TOF is a BIG factor many people do not consider as well. On a standing animal inside 200 yards, mostly irrelevant. Otherwise, it is an issue. If the animal takes a step, turns, etc., the perfect shot can become the tracking of a wounded animal, or worse. It takes a considerable amount of...

Having trouble deciding on a budget .223 target rifle build

If I was going to buy, I would look at the Tikka. But I ended up with a Ruger American .223, but a Boyds stock and an adjustable cheek riser on it and it works great for me. Shooting 69 to 77 grains, plenty of mag length and the accuracy is amazing. If one really wanted to go cheap, you can...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns 10mm 1911 thoughts & opinions

I have a 20# spring in my DW, not a dual. I run a 180 grain TFP at 1300 for plinking, 180 or 200 XTPs at about the same for Hunting.

My RZ10 sitting on the Elk I shot with it in 2003. I put a set of Hogue rubber grips on it to keep the Dark Rosewood grips pristine.

I am guessing in April sometime. Not yet filmed, but that is usually when episode 13 airs.

    Hunting & Fishing Elk Hunters

35 elk on my tags, present when about another 150 ish have been shot. The caliber that has lost more elk than any other of those almost 200 elk was the 7mm Rem Mag, some with what appeared to be perfect shots. Elk are tougher than people think and that big target I think lulls people into poor...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns 10mm 1911 thoughts & opinions

I am a huge fan of the 10mm. I currently own a 610, a G20, a Razorback and I am in process building a 10mm 16" DI AR. I had a G29, Wilson and a Kimber and sold them off. In the 1911 pattern, the Dan Wesson and the STI Perfect 10 are the high water marks IMHO. While the RZ-10 sold today is...

    .243 or 308 for AR10 build?

Having walked down this path a few times myself, I'd look at the 6mm options in the AR15 platform. I really like .243Win (5 bolt guns), and I want a .243 barrel for my .308 pattern AR, but I still don't have one since you can get 90% of the way there with an AR15 pattern for less $.

Rifle Scopes 2-10x Scope. your favorite?

I have a 2-10 XTRII on two rifles. My hunting .243Win and my 6.5PCC AR. I shoot both of those out to about 750 and I really like the scope. I have the 1-8 XTRII on my .308 AR and I think that is about perfect for an AR out to 600 yards.

Buffer and Spring Recommendations For .308 AR

I am running the CAR-10 6.5 ounce buffer, JP flatwire spring. That helped a lot, but I also added a Superlative Arms adjustable gas block. Adjustable keys and tubes work, but not as well as keeping the gas in the barrel (or really close). The adjustable keys and tubes tend to foul faster and...

    Hunting Shooting Sticks (Bipod) Suggestions

I use the Primos Trigger Stick and I really like them for hunting. I have a Bi-pod and a Tri-pod. I have shot animals out to 400 with them and been stable enough. FWIW, I cheaped out and tried to use them in my first few precision matches...um no. Better than nothing, but not a good solution...

Rifle Scopes Burris XTR II Illumination in the Day Time

I prefer the 1-8 over the 1.5-8 for the reticle and illumination. I have used mine in full light in CO and NM and it is plenty bright for me.
