    Creedmoor Short Barrel Opinions

Re: Creedmoor Short Barrel Opinions Thanks for the help fellas. BTW... I would love to be able to reach far past 1000yrds but I'm lacking a place to give it a shot. Also, the gun would be set up tac style but used for hunting game as big as elk. The tac options (night vision & suppressor)...

    Creedmoor Short Barrel Opinions

Anybody had experience with short barrel (less than 24") Creedmoor rifles. Most custom shops seem to use 24" but a few builders like McMillan give the option of 20". Looking for stats, experience and/or opinions. (Creedmoor only pls... I think your .260s, Sweeds, .308s and God know what are...

Gunsmithing .308 Hop = Muzzle Brake

I've shot about 250 rounds thru my Rem. 700 .308 ACC and although the recoil in a non-issue, the muzzle hop is really irritating. It's a consistent jump up and to the right. Not only is there no way to follow the bullet to impact, getting back on target takes alot of effort. Obviously a muzzle...

    "Quieter" Muzzle Brakes

I have a Rem. 700 AAC .308 with a 20" threaded barrel. Was a the range last week and had the opportunity to fire the same gun with a Surefire muzzle brake. Although it barely jumped, it was loud... very loud. I'm looking for a brake that won't make shot louder. I know it won't make it quiet...

Gunsmithing Bell & Carlson Light Tact vs. Medalist

Going to replace my Rem.700's Hogue junk stock with either a Bell and Carlson: Light Tactical (w/j-loop) or Medalist Tactical Style. Who's got one or the other? Pros/Cons? Overlooked details? Thanks!

    Gunsmithing Multicam Dipping - N. Florida/S. Georgia?

Anybody know a good hydrographics/dipping service in N. Florida or S. Georgia? I want to switch out my Rem.700's Hogue junk stock with a B&C or HS Precision but want to have it dipped in Multicam first. Also, any places out of my area that you would recommend or avoid would be great. If this...

    Hunting & Fishing Bowhunting Forums?

I know this is a gunpowder forum but I also know there's plenty of memebers who love their bows too. Anybody know of some great bowhunting forums? Preferably, a site note based within any particular company's own site. Also, can September get here any slower?

Hunting & Fishing Milspec camo for hunting...

Re: Milspec camo for hunting... The patterns are good for deer hunting (multicam is particularly well suited). However, although I'm not a huge believer in the scent control carbon/silver obsession... it does matter. Especially if you want to tag a trophy buck. Big, older bucks didn't get...

    ACR 6.5

Re: ACR 6.5 My typo, you're right... 6.8. But I've heard a rumor that a 6.5 will also be available... One day. I shot a hog 2 months ago with a 6.8 and a buck last season with a .270. I love my .308 bolt gun but the 6.8 is a perfect round at 250yrds. Placement is more forgiving.

Hunting & Fishing Shotgun Sling Type/Style?

I've always carried my 870 with no sling but this Spring I had alot of action walking to different blinds of all sizes and position. Between the gear (backpack & shotgun... no vest) and decoys I carried alot of stuff and thought a sling would be a big help. I was thinking a single point may...

Hunting & Fishing Suggestions for a hunting sight upgrade... ?

I've been using the 870 stock vented barrel with the bead for about 2 years. It works well enough (for turkeys) but I've never felt it was "precise" for flying birds and won't go near a deer with it. Any suggestions... pros/cons?

Hunting & Fishing Ethical Distance for Whitetail

Re: Ethical Distance for Whitetail I've never shot past 300 yards. My rule of thumb is take the effective range and subtract slightly less than half. That way I can be very accurate and the rounds have a tone of energy behind them.

Hunting & Fishing Best turkey load at what range?

Got my most recent turkey with Federal Strut-Shok 3.5" because the opportunity presented itself with a Beretta O/U but normally I use my Rem 870 12g. Used a bunch of loads but I've found Remington Magnum 3" #4 seems to be the best at 40 yrds. Drops'em dead. Any a opinions on others?
