carbon fiber stocks from evil empire

I have friends that entered the carbon fiber mountain bike rim business with Chinese factories, they used the locals to make the molds. If you took your molds to China you'd be in business within 12 months with easy access to Euro and North American markets.

Gunsmithing Help needed - R700 installing new timney trigger and boyds stock

Here's my thread on the upgrades I made: http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/snipers-hide-bolt-action-rifles/255837-budget-700-build-223-a.html

Gunsmithing Help needed - R700 installing new timney trigger and boyds stock

I have that exact stock on my SPS Varmint and the curved version of the Timney trigger. Other than having to file the stock slightly around the trigger hole, everything dropped into place beautifully. I'm surprised you're having so many issues. I would call Timney about the trigger fit. I...

How well will this pillar bedding kit work on my stock?

I looked at trying to improve the factory tupperware stock on my SPS Varmint. Once I bought the materials to beef up the factory stock I was 1/2 the cost of a Boyds and its still a marginal solution at best. I punted and bought the Boyds Tacicool, used JB Weld to bed the tange in front of the...

Gunsmithing Light Primer strikes after Timney install on R700

SPS Varmit is one model that Timney is aware has the problem, mine does. Timney just made a production change to a longer sear so it appears they have recognized the issue and have made a universal fix. They asked me to ship my trigger back and they'll replace it, no offer of direct shipping...

Gunsmithing Light primer strike, Rem AAC 700 SA?

I'm having light strikes with a Timney, they admit there's been issues with some rifles, SPS Varmit in particular. There's been a production change in the last few weeks, all the Remington 700 triggers come with a longer sear. I'm sending my trigger back to have the longer sear installed. I...

PMC 223 ammo and FTF with a 700 SPS?

Thanks for your response, I'm a complete noob. Which brands have softer primers? I was looking at some Federal American Eagle .223 Remington 55 Gr. Full Metal Jacket, would that ammo have a softer primer? If the firing pin was sticking due to crusty factory lube in the bolt, could that be the...

PMC 223 ammo and FTF with a 700 SPS?

I have a 700 SPS Varmint in 223. It shoots Blue Mountain 223 with no issues (in over 200 rnds). On the other hand, PMC 223 is a disaster, ~1 in 4 fail to fire (tried ~100 rnds). I took the rifle and a PMC rnd with dinged primer to my local gunsmith and right away he said this is a common...

    Remington 700 recall...

There's a three page thread already running, it's still on the first page of this forum. All your questions are answered in that thread. http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/snipers-hide-bolt-action-rifles/245971-remington-700-recall-x-mark-pro-triggers.html

    Budget 700 build in 223

I just moved to Colorado and in anticipation of being able to learn long distance shooting I wanted to purchase a set-up for less than $1000. I went with .223 for two reasons, lower recoil (so I could shoot all day without getting beat up) and low cost ammo in a cartridge I already have...

    Timney 510? or is it?

I received a new Timney 512 trigger (same as 510 with nickel plated trigger) for my 700 SPS last month and there wasn't any keeper pin. The included instructions and the on-line instruction still show a keeper pin, installed with no issues.
