    Retumbo & 250 grain Bergers

Re: Retumbo & 250 grain Bergers Chris, Good info all. I had called both Hodgdon & Berger & they had no data on the 250's, only 300's which I had been shooting with Retumbo. That tells me it's not an optimum combo. May try the Sierra numbers just for fun but will lean towards H1000 since lots...

    338lm load range h1000 HSM

Re: 338lm load range h1000 HSM Looks like you are down to 2 possibilities, load,or brass . Lapua vs Nosler. I'm no engineer, but .004 difference between our measurements seems like a lot in brass thickness @ the neck. Maybe that's why folks love Lapua brass. My Lapua brass after 3-4...

    Good Chrono For the Money?

Re: Good Chrono For the Money? I got tired of shooting up anything that sits 5-10' out in front of you. The folks from MagnetoSpeed http://www.magnetospeed.com/ are designing one for me to test that will not only fit on a regular barrel, but also on a suppressor. Will be a couple weeks...

    338lm load range h1000 HSM

Re: 338lm load range h1000 HSM I gave up measuring the thickness of the neck, multiply X 2, add bullet diameter,ya da, ya da. Too much variance. Just take a factory round & measure the outside diameter of the neck as close to the bullet as you can get, subtract .001-.003. My Lapua factory...

    338lm load range h1000 HSM

Re: 338lm load range h1000 HSM BTW, I use 89 gr. of Retumbo with my 300 grain Bergers. I just ordered some H1000, so plan to experiment with that also, plus neck tension, plus 250 gr. Bergers, plus COAL inside & beyond mag length (jump distance)once I get the Bayo MagnitoSpeed chronograph to...

    338lm load range h1000 HSM

Re: 338lm load range h1000 HSM Are they using Berger 300 grain Tactical OTM's? Just passing along the info I got from Walt Berger. He's advertising 2600 max vel with a 102.7% fill ratio @ 84.3 gr. Got a new Magnitospeed chronograph on the way, so i'll be able to provide some mv data soon.

    338lm load range h1000 HSM

Re: 338lm load range h1000 HSM Two quick points. Using H1000 with Berger 300 grain OTM's, Walt recommends starting with 80 grains & a max of 84.3. He wrote me that his bullets take up more space in the brass, so to be careful with numbers from the powder folks. Check his data out by writing...

Re: WC 872 ball powder 95LTZ here's a reply from Winchester. WC872 is a military surplus powder of the ball type. It was made in the old Olin ball powder plant in East Alton, Il or later, in the ball powder plant built by Olin in St. Marks, FL which has changed hands 3 or 4 times in the...

Berger OTM Tactical 300gr 338 Lapua Load data

Re: Berger OTM Tactical 300gr 338 Lapua Load data I've been shooting Berger 338 cal, 300 gr Hybrid Tactical OTM's in my MRAD using Lapua brass. I also use a BORS on top of my Nightforce 5.5-22x56. The guy who does the programming for the BORS worked some data for me & came up with a G-1 BC of...

    Hornady Superformance powder

Re: Hornady Superformance powder Guess I could have made my long answer longer. After Hornady identified this problem, they crimped the primer, similar to military rounds, in lots after mine. The rep knew that I wanted to be able to reload my fired brass & told me I would have to swage or...

    300 Win Mag questions

Re: 300 Win Mag questions I think part of your question was what size bushing dies? I use .333 on most cases & .332 on the rest. Firm ,but not too tight. The tighter I went, the more spresd.

    Hornady Superformance powder

Re: Hornady Superformance powder Short story long. Here's part of a letter I sent to Hornady recently. "Today, I fired 13 rounds of your Hornady 165 grain GMX factory ammunition. Prior to today, I had fired 5 rounds, all in a bolt action rifle & had no problems. After firing them today...

    Forster 338 lapua magnum dies?

Re: Forster 338 lapua magnum dies? I can only assume that long distance accuracy is a high priority for that caliber. I can't help you with Forster, but would recommend that you get FL bushing dies. I'm using RCBS Gold Medal Match Series. Haven't decided yet on the bushing size for my 338 LM.
