Re: Group size at various distance
I guess I'm looking at this from a physics point of view. The projectile leaves the barrel in a defined path once it deviates from that path its going to get further from it. Meaning the further it travels the further it deviates from that path. I cant...
I've been debating with a co worker and want to get some other opinions. The question is if all things are equal can a round group better at say 300 yds vs 100 yds. I say no, he says yes. Remember all things equal except for the distance.
I recently completed a varmint barreled ar in .223 wylde. I built the Rock River lower using Rock River internals including the 2 stage trigger. I ordered a 20 inch varmint upper from WOA. I wanted a tack driver. With handloads what 5 shot group sizes should be expected at 300 yards?
Re: M9 Surplus powder
I spoke to Jeff Bartlett at GI Brass about the powder (where it was originally purchased) According to him depending on the lot number the M9 powder burn rate is all over the place. This particular lot burns very closely to IMR 3031.
Re: M9 Surplus powder
I've heard it meters rough. I can get an unopened 8 pound jug for 80.00. I was thinking about using it for run and gun type stuff, not precision loads. My thought process being I started somewhere close to the minimum load and rolling with it. I'd also considered...
A co-worker of mine has an unopened 8 pound jug of M9 Surplus powder. He bought it several years ago, and wrote "use IMR 3031 data" on the jug. I'm wondering if this powder would work for bulk .223 loads? Anyone have any info on it?
A buddy and I spent the day at Thunder Valley Precision demoing supressors with Tom Sarver. I'd like to thank Tom for spending the time with us and answering countless questions. We had a great time and my buddy left a little bit lighter in the pocket. I did not make a purchase this trip but...
Re: Case Trimmer Seized Up
Oh it happened, took it into work with me this morning. Put some heat to it, tapped on it a little with a hammer and freed it up. Gonna clean it up with some 400, and 600 grit sand paper should be good to go after that.
I'm relatively new to reloading and am doing it on a limited budget. I acquired several pieces used but did "splurge" and bought a new RCBS rotary case trimmer kit. I was using it tonight with a screw chucked into my battery drill when all the sudden it just froze up solid. I have it soaking...

I can do this in the morning.
Im new to to reloading in general. I'm wanting to reload for accuracy more so than economy. What effect if any do primers have on accuracy. I'm reloading for .223 and am specifically wondering about standard cci small rifle v/s remington 7 1/2 benchrest primers?
