Gunsmithing 10 years, but it finally happend.

Does this mean now we will get those Rem bolt handles you teased us with? J/K I've no doubt whatever comes off this machine will be top notch to say the least.

    Gunsmithing Concentric Chambers ???

@Bluetroop I’m in the same boat. I just snapped an inch of flute off of a brand new reamer. After some choice language was uttered and I settled down, I thought of this thread and decided to roll with it, just to see what happens. I’m willing to bet this shiny new $325 barrel this rifle is...

    Gunsmithing ARC Nucleus with barloc

On what? The cross bolt, maybe. I don't see the point of putting any on the tenon. Not that doing so would hurt a thing, but why? Some one feel free to correct me if I'm missing something obvious.

    Gunsmithing Concentric Chambers ???

Anybody that thinks its ridiculous here, go take a stumble around the world of Hi-Fi. People would start fistfights over inflated performance specifications and marketing fluff, if only they could physically reach through their computer screens. At least here, it doesn't take very long to tune...

    Gunsmithing Lathe advise?

If the choice is between those two and only those two machines, condition would be my main concern. Trying to hold tolerances or get decent surface finish on a floppy, wallered out, machine is frustrating to the extreme. My tired old 16" Voest reminds me of this sad fact me every time I fire...

    Gunsmithing Ruger Precision replacement barrel

Another vote for LRI prefit. Expensive and not Bartlein (K&P) as you requested, but I'm happy with mine. For whatever that is worth.

What is the Large Frame {Non-ARMALITE} AR mag of choice at this time.

"What's wrong the large frame pmag? " The bolt doesn't lock back on my G2 and they dont have as much as much room. Not the end of world, but not ideal either. I also have a RPR, so having extra length and being about to feed both guns from the same mag is a plus. Pmags are swell in...

What is the Large Frame {Non-ARMALITE} AR mag of choice at this time.

Last I heard, the gold standard for quality and COAL was Larue Tactical or KAC. Both are pretty spendy. After being fed up with P-mags, I wen't with steel Larue mags for a buck fifty a pair. They are very well made as you would expect for top dollar mags. I will be picking up more in the...

New Ruger RPR's - Magnum options

3.85" mags is fantastic news. I've been wanting for this rifle to exist for years. I've gone from a Ruger American 308 to fool around with, to a RPR, and this is the natural progression. Almost bought an American in 300wm to rebuild to suit, but the retarded mags held me off. So glad I...

Nucleus bump on close (renamed again)

Well, if it is only a few raised burrs that is the issue, I’m not going to sweat ARC over it. Nothing a few seconds with a small slip stone can’t sort out. Just something to be on the lookout for. Thanks for raising awareness.

Nucleus bump on close (renamed again)

Timely thread for me. The nucleus I ordered is in the mail as I type. This issue will be something to look out for. Hope your’s is a rare case and gets sorted out quickly. This thread is also a reminder, that I need to get off my ass and order a trigger (among other things) ASAP.

    DPMS G2 Recon aftermarket bcg

Hammer Arms was supposed to be coming out with a bolt to go with their bbl extension for the G2, but nothing appears on the website. In fact they stopped listing the extensions as well. Last time I spoke to them was in Feb, so who knows what they are or are not coming out with currently...

Gunsmithing Welding Crack in Mosquito Slide?

That repair would be a no-go even if the alloy was weldable. With a standard 50% de-rate due to heat input and HAZ, it would fail sooner than later. That's not even mentioning warping. AL loves to heat warp and shrink and pull all over the place.

I need help finding a pistol grip...not just anyone...a fat one!

The deluxe Ergo grips have served me well. Not really vertical, but closer than most and I dig the surface/texture. Almost everything I own has an Ergo of some sort on it. Hardly the most attractive grip ever made, but effective.

    Another 338LM Cratered at Shot

I was always under the impression that it was virtually impossible to OOB fire an AR platform rifle, assuming it is in sound mechanical condition. If this is untrue, how does the M231 port firing weapon exist?

Rifle Scopes Why we spend so much on scopes

Guys. That's a pretty sick scope. Can't believe Lowlight banned him. I mean come on, that thing packs a fucking laser. A LASER. None of my scopes have lasers :( Not even my $2000 ones. I feel so foolish spending that kind of money on a non-laser scope, that doesn't look like an Unertl.

Savage 10FCP LE McMillian scope base suggestions

After wasting time and money on a two piece that left ring marks on everything mounted to it, I picked up a one peice Ken Farrell steel base. 20moa, I think. Liked it enough to bed it straight to the action. No release agent, its not going anywhere. Done deal. Actually, I had no choice but...

6mm Comp Match... Lapua .308 Palma case?

I can vouch for LRI's sizer, very nicely done and worth the coin. Cant help with the small primer question though, as all I've used so far is Lapua 243 brass, and I still haven't wrung out all the kinks in a load I feel good about. But good Lord, the velocity is there if you want it!

Rifle Scopes Lightweight scopes for hunting? Any FFP?

This is not a bad scope at all. Mine was pressed into service as a varmint scope. Spending looong days behind this scope was never a problem. Liked the weight and the capped windage knob. Good enough glass for prairie dogs for sure.
