I shoot both fluted and non fluted barrel precision rifles. Other than slight reduction in weight and possible a tad quicker barrel cooling due to increased surface area of barrel, I see no difference between the two types that affect accuracy.
Best thing you can do to the Mini 14 is get a trigger job done to it. Factory trigger is crap. Not much more you can do with the newer 580 series rifles that makes much difference of what it is. This trigger job net me a 5-1/2 lb. then 3-1/2 lb. trigger pulls on its two stage trigger, trigger...
I have a cheap Wheeler scope bubble level I bought many years ago, however, I stuff a stack of feeler gauges under the flat between the bottom of my scopes, against the picatinny mount to level mine and it works great. I've verified level with this method using the bubble.
Yep... I use Refresh eye drops every couple of hours. The night before I go shooting I drink a ton of water and lots of water at the range. Also, I don't drink any alcohol the day or night before range day. Has worked for me the last few years.
