Redding Bushing Dies for Semi-Auto Use

I have lots of bushing dies, neck and FL, with lots of different bushings. I agree with their point about not getting the entire neck sized with 'some' bushing die set ups, either neck, or FL. This might cause a false shoulder that could bind up on a very tight chamber. I load with bushing...

Reloading for a brand new Accuracy International AX338MC

The faster twists were created to help stabilize the longer, heavier bullets. You can shoot the 250s, or the 285s in that twist and they may actually shoot well for you, cost you less money and recoil less, but do what makes you happy. Neck sizing vs. FL sizing...people's opinions vary. I do...

Reloading for a brand new Accuracy International AX338MC

Assuming the necks aren't dinged in these days, you can just load them up with a light charge and fire form them to your chamber and then prep them, trimming them as needed. I uniform my primer pockets and deburr my flash holes and call it a day. Don't discount the 250s either, at those...

    barrel life and heavy bullets

I'd throw out the fact that heavier bullets generally get loaded with less powder, therefore slightly less gas/plasma gets produced, to burn out the throat, but I'm no physics expert. Chris

Cannot Bump Shoulder in FL Resizing Die

If you can't get fired cases to size with your Redding FL sizing die, either your chamber is way undersized, or your sizing die is defective. I'll assume that the press isn't the problem. You need to start ruling things out, one at a time. Chris

Chargemaster or beam scale? Your opinions...

I got my CM 1500 back in '05 and it put my Dillon beam scale back in its box. I'm not a kernel counter, so it fits my needs perfectly. Chris

    308 & varget won't group?

Anything's possible. Go back to square one. What has the rifle shot well? "I am gonna pick up some FGMM 175 for somewhat of a control. I know I can get 1 moa out of those." Have you shot FGMM 175s to "know" that it shoots those well, or are you assuming your rifle will? When you buy the...

    When to pitch 223 brass?

Not with Federal from the 00s. Anything's possible, but you need to look at the sample size and internet banter. You have a heavish BCG ripping cases out of the chamber. You have people bumping the shoulders back more than they would for a bolt gun and those two issues add up to cases...

    When to pitch 223 brass?

Out of gas guns, if you get to 4, 5 or even 7 cycles, before losing them, or splitting necks, you're probably good to go. I guess the worse that would happen is that you get a case head separation and need a broken case extraction tool to make the weapon operable again. Chris

    Bucket of xm193 brass

Like world currencies and commodities, 1x .mil brass fluctuates on an almost daily basis. Since you need to get an idea of what it's selling for, take a look at our 'options and accessories' site and see what you see. You can also go over the AR15.com because their reloading site should have a...

    Realistic expectations with the 338

The Finnish Army snipers were getting good results from TRG-42s using 250s out to 2000m and getting roughly 4000 rounds out of their barrels before they needed to replace them. Give them a go, as they sail pretty well. Also, try the Hornady 285s and see what you see. Chris

    Realistic expectations with the 338

3000 fps out of a 26"-27" barrel with the 250s is considered an upper moderate load, where you won't be tearing up your throat in record time. 2950-3000 fps is easily doable. Try and maintain that range unless you want to go with a longer tube, don't care about your throat, or you're trying...

SCORED!!!! IMR 4064 Need primer suggestions.

Oxymoron there. 'Cases' is the word you seek. I like Fed GMM 210Ms and CCI BR2s, but have most of the primers from the Big 4, standard, magnum and benchrest/match. Have fun. Chris

Cratered primers on FGMM fired from my POF P308. Is that normal?

Is your firing pin hole oversized? Chris

    "Cheap" primers

I've never had a US made primer fail to fire in over 19+ years of reloading. I see no reason to stop using them, even though they might cost a few dollars more. This is for pistol, as well as rifle cartridges. A few bucks saved, here and there, isn't worth it to me and I'm using all of the...

    .22-250? Any one shoot it?

'05 Savage Model 12 VLP in 22-250 here. 26" 1:12" SS fluted and it's a gorgeous rifle that shot very well right out of the box. I will probably rebarrel it with a 1:8" 223 AI when the time comes. Most 22-250s come with 1:14s, or 1:12s and if you want to shoot the longer range bullets...

    quickload accuracy 338lm

All weapons and their bores are different. You have tight bores and you have looser bores, so trying to get one weapon pegged to X, Y or Z manual is going to be hard. In addition, just because the cartridge is loaded to safe levels, doesn't mean that it's an accurate round through your weapon...

    quickload accuracy 338lm

It's a guide, like any other reloading manual is just a guide. If people swear by it, then good for them. It's never intrigued me enough to try it over reading experienced comments here, or to utilize above and beyond my manuals. I kind of agree with Hunter, in that if you're relying on QL to...

    308 Winchester brass question

If it were just plinking ammo, I wouldn't worry about it. If you're trying to load target type ammo I would segregate it if I were using multiple charge weights. It probably won't matter too much if they're within 2 grs. as you say, but I have OCD and that's how I would do it. If you do load...
