rimfire in the cold, what do you know about it?

Hey Jbell, i don't have a good solid reason as to why. but shooting them side by side, slow twist vs the standard 16 twist.I think it has to do with the slower RPMs the bullet is spinning, and less disturbance. A guy I shoot with from PA figured the RPMs between the two, he also shot a benchmark...

rimfire in the cold, what do you know about it?

Eley match and ten X have a pretty heavy lube and I can feel it in cold weather when I push a round into the chamber, it statrs feeling "gummy". Lapua and some others have a silicone based lube on their polar biathlon and is better suited to the cold. That said I've had eley do good in cold...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns Glock 30s .45 acp or Glock 26 9mm

I agree with these guys. What ever you can shoot the best. If I can put more rounds on target with the 9 then that's what I would use. The 45 don't mean anything if they are going left or right of your target. I don't buy into all the "9 just isn't enough power talk". No bad guy is going to say...

Rifle Scopes Nightforce NXS, blurry at full power

I have a bench rest model , 12-42. It said in the manual to set the parallax on infinity , then turn the eye piece until the recital is sharp, to get all the parallax out. Once it's set then use the adjustable objective. I was at a match a couple months ago and some of us were getting bad...

To the tick turds that keep hoarding the .22 lr stores, I will be laughing hard

Tell your cuz, next time he's going to spend that much on rimfire ammo to look at lapua center x, it much better and about the same price he paid for the geco, if he buys from the right dealer. I think it's about $900 per case. I hate to see people unknowably get ripped on ammo price. Had a...

    Suppressors Direct thread cans

I'm having the same dilemma. I have a QD phantom for my 308. It shoots good, but the little wiggle that it has"very small" had me wanting a direct thread so I can get the wiggle out of my mind. Just as I started looking, the spec war comes out and looks very impressive with metering and lock...

To the tick turds that keep hoarding the .22 lr stores, I will be laughing hard

I had a feeling it may get tight about a year ago and had my gun smith order me 2 cases of eley sport at 2.79 per box, glad I did. It took 2-3 months to show up, but I locked my price in, the same ammo went to $4.79 per box a week after I ordered. when it came in he asked me if I wanted to...

    cleaning rimfires

I use boreteh rimfire blend on a nylon brush, this wets the bore while sweeping the carbon and junk out of the bore, then followed by 4 dry patches on a Parker and hale jag, lots of surface area. On a new barrel ill use a bronze brush about every 3-4 boxes. My old barrel I only have to bronze...

rimfire in the cold, what do you know about it?

That looks like some fine winter rimfire shooting! One thing about cold weather, your shooting through very thick heavy air, and the wind has much more effect on those little lead bullets than in warm humid air, especially at the longer distances.

First time at 1000yards. Tell me what you think is the problem.

Op, do you have a level on you're rifle? A little cant left or right can make a huge difference.

Rifle Scopes Entry Level Scope For Long Range Shooting

I would say leupold 6.5x20 with 30 mm tube, mine is a vx3. I bought one for a 308 and it works well. It has target turrets and tracks well, I can run the elevation out to 750 and back to 100 and my zero is rite on. I gave under $800 for it just the standard duplex. There are better ones out...

    Bore sighting 308 AR

I just look down the bore as others described, except I use the corner of the target or a pizza box, and center the corner in the center of the bore, then carefully raise my head to see through the scope. I think using the corner of something gets me closer.

Can't find thread about quiet buffer and spring for AR

I put a jp spring in my PRS stock. Shooting suppressed its nice not to have to hear twang of the the spring. Their expencieve but they are quiet.

Sidearms & Scatterguns HK USP 45 Tactical

I got both, USP tactical 45 and 6 months later a FNX tactical 45. Hands down I like the HK best, the trigger is better and it's easer to shoot well. Also I don't like the small slide release on the FNX. As soon as I can find a good trade for a threaded HK 9mm the FNX is gone. Not trying to...

    Suppressors Suppressed AR Accessories?

I would highly recommend an adjustable gas block and a Jp silent buffer spring. Both help to quiet it down.

    Adjustable gas blocks

I just finished a seekins build yesterday. It's the first adjustable gas block I've used, it's a syrac, and combined with the jp silent spring buffer and a liberty torch, it sounded great! It's adjusted to where it locks back on an empty mag suppressed, it's a target rifle so that's the way it...

    RRA-Predator or DPMS Varminter

I'd go with the rock river. I had a 20" bull stainless upper on an armalite lower and ended up selling it to a friend while shooting at a range. He's a blaster and has never seen tight groups. I didn't have any hand loads for it, but he had some federal ar varmint ammo or something like that. I...

    Ak47 optic and mount advice

I've had the ulti mak, it was ok but now have the MI side mount and like it a lot, good cheek weld unlike the imported side mounts. Mine is used on a milled Bulgarian arsenal , and a 1x4 leupold. With good ammo it will surprise you, I never thought an AK would preform that well. Like the poster...

    Douglas barrels any good?

Good to hear. I know different barrel makers take turns, being the "hot barrel at the time". This one came from clr in Florida , so it was good to hear they do a good job on the finishing. Hope to have it together in the next week. Still have to work up a variety of loads and break it in. I'll...
