    Warner Flatline Bullets

Any experience with these bullets? I did a quick search, but didn't find anything so i am posting the question. I loaded 25 rounds of increasing powder charges with the 160gr .308 in my 308 Win. The rifle is a shooter. Petersen Brass. Federal G 205 primer. Win 748 powder (which Warner's...

SHopping for a 50 BMG rifle. Accuracy expectations for different makes?

Thanks, everyone. I will be plinking really, but I don't want to be all over the paper if I am doing my part in the shooting. My thinking is I don't want to spend, say $3000 for a rifle with a poor reputation for accuracy when $4000 would buy a much better rifle. I mean, at a certain point...

SHopping for a 50 BMG rifle. Accuracy expectations for different makes?

Barrett is the biggest name out there in the 50 BMG market, but before I buy a rifle, I want to seek feedback on who makes accurate rifles. I am sure MacBros makes a bad ass rifle, but I am not looking at that price point. So in the price point I am looking for, there's the Barret M99 and M95...

    Help with belted magnums

On new 7mm Rem brass, there may well be a pretty sloppy fit in the chamber. Yes, in theory, the case would headspace on the belt. But brass is mass produced, and so are most chambers unless you had your cut professionally. Consider necking new brass to 30 cal, then sizing the neck back down...

    Superformance Powder

I've been unable to find data for Superformance powder at all anytime recently. I looked in Hodgdon Annual manual going back to 2007 but didn't see data in any cartridge I load for. Is this powder still out there?

    Simple question: barrel length/twit/velocity/stabilization

Say a guy has access to a Remington 700 SPS Varmint with its extra long 26" barrel that features a 12 twist. The guy wants the barrel chopped to 20 inches to make the rifle more handy. Problem is the twist. Will the 12 twist stabilize 175 MK if cut off to 20 inches. Without the extra 6...

Sidearms & Scatterguns 1911 Quality vs. Price

Thanks guys for all the input. Something this discussion has done for me is bring my attention to Colt. I had in my mind that quality was lacking and labor was unusually expensive thereby driving the cost up. Some research has brought me to the conclusion that their rail gun is about ideal...

Sidearms & Scatterguns 1911 Quality vs. Price

I should have specified, but I am really looking for a reliable piece for carry and general purpose use. I want to be able to plink, but also depend on the gun for defensive use. I will likely find a good load, and shoot that exclusively, or find an alternate load that shoots to the same POA...

Sidearms & Scatterguns 1911 Quality vs. Price

Gentlemen, I am looking to purchase a nice 1911 in the next few months. I have to save up for it since my family comes first. I have been looking at various 1911s, and I want something nice. It's rare to see a product on the market with such a swing between top end and low end prices...

Sidearms & Scatterguns FN 5-7, Switching it up.

I have always like the idea of the FiveseveN pistol, but FNH is just too proud of their stuff. If the 5.7 pistol was offered at a price competative with the Glock pistol, I would own one, but at the cost of two (2!!!) Glocks, or XDs I just can't justify the purchase. I think the mostly plastic...

    Range Report New 30cal magnum?

The 300 Norma still has the Big bolt face, but it gets good velocity with less powder than the 300 RUM. There is another cartridge called the 300 SKADI, that is a shortened and improved 300 Norma built for efficiency and accuracy. It's a cartridge designed for F class, but it's a performer...

Gunsmithing Help un-dick my chambering method

Groups like that aren't bad as a startiing point. I note you're using H-1000. My experience with H1k is lackluster. I WANT the powder to work for me. I like the Extreme line of powders from hodgdon for their insensitivity to temperature. Alas, I have had less than awesome results from H1k...

What's the most stupid thing you've been told?

A LGS I have heard a couple of times the sales person tell potential customers that Glocks don't have a safety so they are not for beginners. Apparently you can just pull the trigger and shoot so they take more discipline to master than something like a 1911 that has a manual safety and grip...

    Long Range 30 cal chamberings

Re: Long Range 30 cal chamberings No. I see what you're saying. I guess part of my problem is that the 250 Sierra BTs easily stabilized in a 10 twist barrel in the Sako. The Savage I'm shooting now uses a 9 twist, and the long bullets I'm shooting now probably don't really sleep until 100...

    Long Range 30 cal chamberings

Evening, gents. I'm the not-so-proudof a Savage 110 in 338 Lapua that won't shoot. Seriously. I've tried sierras, hornadys and bergers, and every powder that can be used from re-19 thru n-570. Alls I can get is a bit over an inch for 5 shots at 100 (the longest my local range has) So I'm...

    Gunsmithing Dallas/Ft Worth 'Smith Needed

Evening, Gents. I have a simple project I need done, but I don't have a barrel vise. Alls I need is my 338-8mm RM barrel screwed off my Rem 700 and my 375 H&H barrel screwed back on. There are witness marks already on the barrel and receiver, so headspace is assured. I just need someone to do...

Gunsmithing Question About Feed Lip Dimensions for WSMs

I know I am not the first person to take an action designed for standard ('06) sized rounds and modified it to reliably feed the WSMs, so I am asking for some guidance. Background: I am taking my first gunsmithing course starting in february. A Mauser 98 must be sporterized for the class. I...
