“Top 10 Things I Learned on Snipers Hide in 2019" (2nd annual)

    1. People spend a lot of money on “new in box” rifle scopes so that they can sell them on The Hide. What I have not learned this year is why they bought them in the first place…?
    2. That discussing salt bath annealing is no less volatile than casually suggesting “That Hitler guy had some pretty good ideas” at a Shoah Foundation Meeting
    3. Buying expensive equipment won’t make you a better shooter, but it probably won’t make you a worse one either and when you figure out that first part you’ll at least have something of value to sell
    4. Buy a less expensive gun and spend the money on ammo and training” is not always the correct answer to “Should I buy this gun?” (Actually the correct answer is always "yes")
    5. Customizing a gun is like customizing a Harley; if you’re lucky you’ll get a nickel on the dollar back when you sell it
    6. All “I’ve been doing [fill in the blank] for 30 years” tells me, is that there is an equal chance you’ve been doing it wrong longer than anyone else
    7. My .22LR needs anywhere from 9x to 80x magnification…or somewhere in between…WTF?
    8. If we started fights in real life with the same frequency we do online, we’d all be dead or at least badly injured
    9. The “Bolt Action Rifles” forum has the most posts by a mile; I guess that one makes sense
    10. Epstein didn’t kill himself

Let's crank it up to 11!

    11. Only a true bad-ass is qualified to run a Quigley Ford on their rifle.

Seriously, new scope makers should never, ever, ever resort to the "influencer" marketing method of having some anonymous character join a forum just to talk up their latest/greatest model. Nobody falls for it, and your reputation will likely suffer serious damage right at the moment you're trying to get established. Yet, it's happened more than once here on SH. Be up-front about who you are and what you're offering, and people will be much more willing to give you some consideration. You might need to apply for vendor or commercial supporter status, but that should be a lot cheaper in the long run.

    1. Other than smoked meat, popcorn is the most often eaten food while reading the Hide.

    2. Bourbon, then everything else.

    3. There are some great people that hang out here.

    4. There are a lot of really, really dumb people. Everywhere.

    5. In amongst all the hardasses around here, I've found that the biggest and baddest, (Except for Paparock and G-Man) have the softest hearts.

    6. Even though people buy shit and then sell it a week later, it's still waaaay too expensive for my retired ass. I need a job. Not!!

    7. Some folks that I really get along with are actually cat people. Who'da thunk it?

    8. We've lost some good folks over the past 364 days to a freakin cat.

    Others, well good riddance, Lambo-man.

    9. Nein!

    10. My wife told me Ima ten

AJ didn't kill himself (he ain't coming back neither)

    Epstein DEFINITELY didn't kill himself

That bitch gave that poor cat ALL the VD trading cards

Other than my kids, best time spent is reloading. It allows me more shooting time

As crazy as we all are around here; we're the most stable, collected, and simply bad ass motherfuckers created to date.

All I got for now. Thanks all for a great year, this really is an awesome place

    10. IOR Scopes are reliable
    9. MOA reticles are optimal (if not going duplex)
    8. Buddly is da man
    7. 500 dollar night vision is the best bang for the buck.
    6. No rifle should weigh less than 22 lbs
    5. FFP is overrated
    4. PSA uppers are tack drivers
    3. Glocks are really the only handgun
    2. If you can't sell on SH, pm lowlight and bitch about it
    1. I have plenty of ammo

1J has an odd obsession with cats and dwarfs. :)

Veer is good at grading post grammar

Mil is better than MOA and MOA is better than Mil

Counter sniper scopes are only for the best operators
    :):):)

    Dwarfs you say ?

Nothing is different, just more of it

the volume here goes to 11

people who have a business don't like to pay their fair share, too many hiding under the guise of "it's all personal"

the px sucks, still, one day you'll force me to charge you or turn it off

you'll instantly report someone who hurts your feelings but want us to allow trolls to stay so you can watch other people get their feelings hurt

as long as it's "not me" reigns supreme with many

the Pit Dwellers are the problem yet they look down at everyone else

why are Proxy accounts scamming me, stop proxy accounts,

why was my VPN / Networked Proxy Account rejected, confirm my account asap as I don't even know what a Proxy is

there are too many new people on here and I don't like it

    will you vet my sale,

babysit my cat and my friend's cat, don't forget my cat's kittens, all for nothing

    forum suicides are still fun

I have no patience for your antics and it's easy to ban you then argue - says the cat

Shit, I'm surprised that you aren't charging for it already! In all my time here I think I've sold maybe 3 or 4 items there. I'm a self-coined buyer. I'm also going to piss a lot of people off by saying this, but if it went away entirely I wouldn't shed a tear. So many accounts here come to post something for sale, stop by the Bolt Action Rifles or the Pit forums and comment on something, then you don't see them again for 3, 6, 24+ months.

Do you think if people had to pay a "subscription" (which they would - no question about it) that they would naturally expect guarenteed flawless transactions? I'm positive that it would be in your best interests to make it crystal clear that the "subscription" if for access-only, not for "transactional support"!

Oh wow, look at the latest posts. Such statistics, 3 out of 5...

    that is the issue

charging for it and people expecting a different experience

odds are, the way too many users of the PX abuse it, we'll be charging soon enough to use it

if you saw half the emails regarding people's demands using the PX for free, you'd be hesitant to charge, but then again since I am already getting abused over it, i might as well charge for access

I don't think the human mind can fathom the asshattery that occurs in your inbox.

Unfortunately canned responses, auto-replies or straight-up deletion would probably be about as effective as Storm Trooper armor...

    Yup, me too.

You shut your whore mouth about salt bath annealing! It's the best method!
    1. Buying expensive equipment won’t make you a better shooter, but it probably won’t make you a worse one either and when you figure out that first part you’ll at least have something of value to sell.
Yep. I just transitioned from a rice-filled sock rear bag, to an actual rear bag after 10 years of somewhat-non-precision-precision shooting :) @mobius38

    Correct. But more ammo.

    True story
    1. All “I’ve been doing [fill in the blank] for 30 years” tells me, is that there is an equal chance you’ve been doing it wrong longer than anyone else
I've used that equivalent line, but I'm right, and they were wrong. So, whatever.
    1. My .22LR needs anywhere from 9x to 80x magnification…or somewhere in between…WTF?
I'm with you on this one
    1. If we started fights in real life with the same frequency we do online, we’d all be dead or at least badly injured.
    Not necessarily a bad thing

    It does
    1. Epstein didn’t kill himself.
    Very correct.

Its your place, make that money. I'd make it 500 posts to sell for free or charge $10 per 100 to boost up post count to 500 total to sell.

    12. Take stuff Lowlight reviews with grain of salt. Practicaly every piece of gear reviewed gets a glowing recomendation .

    Hi,

Learned that 95% of the time when someone makes a thread of "What do you all think of xyz"; they are not really asking to know what others think of it UNLESS the other person thinks it is awesome and way better than those high dollar competitors.

Learned that 95% of the time when someone makes a thread of "How do you all like xyz"; they are not really asking to know if others like it. They are requesting a digital confirmation that they PURCHASED something that someone else said they liked.

Learned that the VA Admin Cat can eat more than 4 meals a day.

    Sincerely,
    Theis

    every time I am asked,

hey, what do you think of ...

I assume they already own it and want confirmation.
Yup, confirmation bias. It's an evil mofo, and can pollute even the best minds at times.

    They will figure it out

I am at a point, I much happier just banning the disgruntled dicks

if they don't like how i do business on here, LEAVE

log out and go, it's pretty fucking simple

instead, they want to come into my house, spit on the floor, piss in the sink and have the nerve to call me names....

easy, get the fuck out, I don't need you here.

I am pretty transparent in this regards, banning people is easy, beats getting in the mud with the Pigs

I learned that one shouldn't mix Pappy Van Winkle with Coke.

I also learned that even though a scope advertises that it is made in Japan, if you cut it open you may find that it was made in China.
I believe that the same is true of many Asians!

    Sirhr

You can treat the turrets on a Arken scope like a "Detroit Hooker".

Arken is the official scope of Snipers Hide.

Don't name a scope mount after baby batter.

MIL is based on the Metric system.

Don't talk shit about COPS it will get you banned.

You can learn everything you need to know about a scope just by pulling it out the box and finger fucking it for five minutes.

    For real, though...

    I learned:

1.) Precision lasers and electro-optics are a bit above my pay grade.
2.) There's folks crazy and/or generous enough to ship a dude recovering from some shit a bottle of PVW and funds to short dick the payment process of a custom fancy knife just cause...
3.) Manners takes for-fucking-ever to ship a stock.
4.) Mixing Sgt Dokes and Kat McSnatch's cunt song makes for hella funny robocalls.
5.) There's some prick university idiot that is trying to figure out who I am.
6.) I can do web design!
7.) WWC Rye is good stuff.
8.) Some people are allergic to fire ants
    9.) Something else...
    10.) A lot of y'all are pussies.

I've learned that the only "true" bipods cost $400 . anything cheaper than that is a fake chicom knockoff , and all you walmart shopping, Harris bipod loving inbreeds need to go be poor somewhere else you fucking homeless , dodge driving loosers.!

    Harris and Ford.

    Why does that sound familiar?

BTW, this is America. I can be poor anywhere I want. ?
