hornady 75gr HPBT work pretty well for factory ammo. But it seems to be hiding with the unicorns for the time being!

I am also shooting 77 gr Nosler CC with Varget. I chose Nosler over Sierra's 77 gr because I hunt with them and they are supposed to expand a little better due to the different thickness of the copper jacket.
From my 1/8 twist they are super accurate and consistent.

Hdy 75 HPBT over 23.2 gr I4895 CCI400 Lapua brass in a 24" 1:7.7" Krieger match barreled AR shoots 5 rounds under 1" consistently at 100 yards, but the groups tightened up a little to .75" (or less) with 22.4 gr
I never had any luck with TAC, chased an accuracy node for a few months with 2 different barrels (the Krieger and a 20" Wilson 1:8") and finally tried I4895 with much better results.

Head over to the Depot subsection- tons of good loads there. I am not trying to be a jerk, being serious, there are hundreds of good 223 loads there, most/many will shoot from a 1 in 8.
hunting what, and at what range?
ive used the 75amax on ground hogs... it works great... same for deer

I would think hunting with the 5.56 he would mean whitetail and predators. Lots of people shoot groundhogs and such but you don't really hunt them. I use the same 77 gr bullet for both predators and whitetail with great success so far.
In a LaRue 5.56 OBR w/1:8 20" barrel w/ Wylde chamber, 8-32x56 NightForce NXS, Harris Bipod, Magpul PRS stock.

Varget, 77gr SMK sorted in 0.003" base-ogive lots w/meplat trimmed then pointed & coated w/ Boron Nitride, LC11 brass w/ necks skimmed, flash hole trimmed, primer pockets normalized, sorted in 0.1gr lots, Fed 205M primers, .003 off lands (single shot, not mag length), concentricity corrected to .002" or better. This tested out to a SD of 7 on an Oehler 35P. Anal-retentive? What's that? OH shiny!
200yd prone, 600-42X (1.75" X-ring). I have to work on my shooting ability, a friend of my son's shot 5 of 5 in a .72" group at 200 yd with this setup. I would love to see what it would do in a bolt gun.

My LaRue 5.56 OBR w/1:8 20" barrel did not like 80JLK VLDs, but they shot best jammed. Can't remember how much, but it was something like .015"

Some Loads I came up with for my Son's Tikka T3 Varmint with 1-8 Twist. We did the OAL measurement and came up with a seating depth specific to his Rifle however.
Sierra Match King 77 gr (9378T and 9377)
Both 21.7 and 22.5 grains have shot very well using Varget Powder
Both Hornady and Lapua brass yielded the same results but with Hornady I uniform the primer pocket first.
CCI BR4 Primers
My son typically shoots 1/4" to 1/2" groups at 100 and 200 yards with this load in his Rifle.
For Coyote I use:
55gr Nosler Varmageddon
Nosler Brass (Primer Pocket uniformed)
CCI 400 primers
Varget 21.5 grains
He's doing 1/2" to 3/4" groups at 100 and 200 yard groups With this load
I've used 80gr. Hornady A-Max with Hornady brass and had mixed results. I've been told that 80 gr bullets won't really stabilize in flight untill after about 200 or 300 yards. Not sure how true that is.

Get some 69gr SMK/Varget and if that won't work use barrel for wind flag. Just kidding, 69gr SMK is probably your best bet. I found that if you push them hard the performance picks up. My goto load is 26.2 varget.

The model is discontinued, and no one has any stock on them.
The least expensive magnetic force restoration balance Sartorius now offers is $900, and is an order of magnitude less precise, 1 milligram as oppose to .1 milligram for the GD503.
The GD503 resolution was .005 grains, the replacement is probably .02 grains.
After a good amount of research I bought an A&D FX-300i for $645 shipped... same resolution as the $900 Sartorius, 5 year (as opposed to 2) warranty, 1 second (as opposed to 3) updates, better linearity.
It's bad ass.
I bet the GD503 was super bad ass, but they're gone, and to get that kind of resolution now is $2k.

The 300 was only $45 more with several times the capacity (320 g) and no loss of resolution so I went that way.
You never know when you're gonna have to make handloads for a Howitzer.

Bummer! Maybe someone was trying to tell me something, like maybe I didn't really NEED a $1500 scale and a $650 scale is good enough. lol The demo I saw was using Varget like I use and they were not able to fully take advantage of the GD503 accuracy due to the size of a Varget kernel. So the 300 is also a magnetic force restoration scale? By my estimation, the 300 should measure within 3 kernels of Varget, is that correct?
Man, first I find out that I can't get a Prometheus, then I hear that the Satorius GD503 is also out of production. What's next? I sure hope I don't hear that Les Baer stopped making 1911s before I can afford one!

So far, my balance has registered a single kernel of the powders I've measured on it, which are 4007SSC, I4895, and H4350.

THEN I found one on Craig's List, used but claimed not actually USED, whatever that means. $900 or best offer. C'est la vie. I'm still happy to have found one as I know they will soon be as rare as a Prometheus. (i.e. rarer than hens teeth)
Nice, it's a hell of a balance.
I've reloaded with 5 different powders including two SSCs and the A&D resolves individual granules of each.
I also just picked up a "used for parts or not working" A&D HR-120 for $40 shipped.
The seller claims it only displays an "E" when it is powered on.
That's what happens when you remove the tray, so I'm hoping I can just add a tray to this one and have a .0001 gram balance.
I think it's a strain gauge based balance, but, hey, it's only $40, and they list for $2200 (street price $1700)

My scale arrives Friday by COB. I got the Omega trickler yesterday. This weekend I will be running a ladder test with ACCURATE loads for the first time. All of my previous loads were with a Chargemaster (lol) (Not that that's terrible. I Have gotten an SD of 7 for 10 rounds, measured with an Oehler 35P.) I really hope my OCD pays off on the target.
My $41 (shipped) A&D balance arrived today.
I was a little disappointed when I could not get past the error (-e) simply by installing the pan from my FX-300.
I called A&D tech to discuss the error codes, and a very helpful technician there weighed an entire HR-120 pan assembly for me.
Turns out the pan from the FX-300 is too light to enter the zero "window" of the HR, so I stacked 130 grams of calibration weights on the mechanism, turned it on, and it works fine.
Adding 30 grams to the FX-300 pan also allows the balance to function properly.
I am pricing the parts for a pan assembly to determine if I buy the pan or spin one up on my lathe.
.002 grain resolution.. it's ridiculous!
