Hello everyone. New to the Sh forums and have a few questions. Also new to the discipline of long distance shooting and battle rifles in general, so don't beat me up too bad. I'm not wholly inexperienced with firearms in general.
About a year ago I bought a Scar17 and have been pondering Optics ever since. I'd like to take this rifle to its practical limits on both ends, and I believe a 1-8x optic is sort of the ideal design for this firearm at least with my intentions in mind. By practical limits I mean close range to 1000 yards. Yes I know it's not the tool for consistent 1000yard on-the-head-of-a-pin accuracy, but that the fun in the challenge. So that being said, for those that have experience with these platforms and specific optics, here's my questions:
What are the advantages/disadvantages between the leupold cqbss and the uso sr8c aside from the obvious red dot, and 1x? What difference in internal elevation is there?
Is a 20 moa mount going to be necessary for the longest distance and will it-if so- be unable to zero at closer ranges?
I've already talked to Lazy and Scott, just pondering my decision.
I've considered two optics, but the cost will be higher, and I'm sort of an all-in-one/ go big or go home guy.
So, what are y'all's thoughts?

I use my March 1-10x24 for that. Better and cheaper and more mag. It also zero's at the closest range.

Not really. $2300 for Non illuminated or $3K for illuminated (which is a must on a 1-10). How is that cheaper? There is a vendor on this site selling the USO 1-8's, with illumination and erek knob for like $2200.

Thanks Cobracutter and Canpopper for your replies. Yes I've been tempted by the mark 6 3-18, but I'd want something for 1x- so that does increase the spending. The March looks awesome but 3,000 and I haven't seen too much info or reviews out there.

So that's basically why I think I've narrowed it down to the sr8c and the cqbss...

So between the sr8c with EREK and the cqbss with tmr, which ones would you choose and why?

With our sale right now you can pick up an illuminated 1x-8x FFP March for $2420 or non illuminated for $1800! They are in stock and ready to ship! We also have some MOA model 3x-24x's for $1930! The 1x-10x is going for $1530 non illuminated or $2320 illuminated! That's through the end of this month only!

BTW Cobracutter the retail on the 1x-10x is $1830 non illuminated and $2520 illuminated.

I guarantee you that the March will blow you away compared to the MK6 3-18.
