Hello everyone. New to the Sh forums and have a few questions. Also new to the discipline of long distance shooting and battle rifles in general, so don't beat me up too bad. I'm not wholly inexperienced with firearms in general.
About a year ago I bought a Scar17 and have been pondering Optics ever since. I'd like to take this rifle to its practical limits on both ends, and I believe a 1-8x optic is sort of the ideal design for this firearm at least with my intentions in mind. By practical limits I mean close range to 1000 yards. Yes I know it's not the tool for consistent 1000yard on-the-head-of-a-pin accuracy, but that the fun in the challenge. So that being said, for those that have experience with these platforms and specific optics, here's my questions:
What are the advantages/disadvantages between the leupold cqbss and the uso sr8c aside from the obvious red dot, and 1x? What difference in internal elevation is there?
Is a 20 moa mount going to be necessary for the longest distance and will it-if so- be unable to zero at closer ranges?
I've already talked to Lazy and Scott, just pondering my decision.
I've considered two optics, but the cost will be higher, and I'm sort of an all-in-one/ go big or go home guy.
So, what are y'all's thoughts?
