Good plot/good acting/good action supposedly based on actual historical incident just before Japan opened up to West and end of age of samurai came.

Alright! Now that's a good damn movie.

The 200 enemies was bullshit though, there's no way that was only 200, more like 2000. It was a 50min full on bloodbath that ROCKED!

Very clever movie of weaving nuance and meaning into one of best prolonged action sequences I've ever seen.

Made me want cut some bad guys head clean off....

Saw it a few months ago and LOVED it! A little sad I didn't wait though, because I just saw that it was playing tonight at Brewvies, the local bar/movie theatre. I can't even imagine how awesome it would be with a beer in my hand!

I think it's like "The girl who played with fire". People tend to like this stuff, because it's rare, not because this particular one was great. As Samurai movies go, the fights were not that impressive, and the story was flat, I mean really flat!
Then some crazed dude fights samurais with a stone thrower? Seriously?
After being in jail for 10 years, I am sure any titty is great titty. It's rarity not greatness.

my son watched it and thought it was a great movie . l am going to pick it up for him on bluray for Christmas . Whats some other good Ninja or Samurai movies you guys recommend ?

I got a few good ones for you, theinvisibleheart can offer up a few more I bet !

Get; "Twilight Samurai" by Yoji Yamada and the same director also did "The Hidden Blade" is also liked 'Harakiri" by Kobayashi. I've watched dozens of Samurai movies these three I own!

And yes...I watched 13 Assassins this weekend, 130 more to kill seemed like 500 more, endless.

on the third attempt I was able to finish the movie. at first I got bored 10 minutes in but WOW, it's one hell of an awesome movie

They had hoped for 13 Assassins against 20 or 30, instead they got 200, ya gotta love those odds.

Lord Naritsugu is a sadistic murdering rapist, that scene with the limbless women was crazy. After that you're hooked and rooting for the 13 Assassins to find and kill Naritsugu.

How bout the scene where he's practicing Kyudo on the servants? They were his to serve even as targets.

Good & more than generous enough with plenty of ' Blood & Blade to the Bone ' to last you awhile .
Sword Choreography was good & solid also & Ya the Overlord Bad-guy was a Sick Prick .
