If you want to shoot heavies (80+ gr) and be able to mag feed them, it may be worth it to you. I think 22 arc is easier to load for as well.

I have no issues shooting 73-77g pills out of my 223's. They shoot better out of my ARC Bolt that my 223 Bolt. They carry more speed and shoot a little better. I think a load for my 22 ARC was a little easier to get to than my 223 as well.

22 ARC is 22" long & my 223 is 20".

I realize this is different than an AR in every way.

In a bolt action, does it take specific mags like the mdt 6arc mags? Picked up a barrel yesterday and want to get some mags ordered if I need them?

Has the Alpha brass been made yet? It’s out of stock everywhere which has me wondering if it’s been made yet.

I am using the MDT 6 ARC mags both in steel 12 and new poly 10. They work great, I think I like the poly better and half the price.

AR side use Duramag or ASC 6.5 Grendel mags

Did a velocity test today. 48 degrees today. Loaded up some sierra 90 pointed MK with cfe223. The node is 29.3 grn. Going 2878 fps.

Similar to Varget, some loads are same charge. These are with 80.5’s.

Yeah, it’s in a gas gun and they are hot. I settled on 27.6 with N140 but it is still on hot side (4k over GRT max pressure). My go to and match load is N540 and 85.5’s.

2700 out of a 20". A few thousand under GRT max pressure.

Have you ran it up to see where pressure is?

No, went up to 26.5 and all was fine but it shoots good at the 26.2 and low on the pressure, which was important to me as the bolts are the weak point, the Hornady brass isn't so nice either, primer pockets open up quickly with some spicy loads.

Perfect. Buddy and i had two coyotes out at 350ish deer hunting. I had using the wife’s 6cm pushing 108s at 2930. I had the ole mws in 308 with 175s at 2530. First one folded and the other took off. Took some follow-ups but at that distance on a 15-20mph mover with the MWS just wasn’t going to cut it.

So anywho I’m on the list for a mk12 mod 0 barrel in 22 arc now. Curious if i could get good speed of that barrel length with that bullet without having to reload.

The 62s only have .9mil of drop at 300 with a 100yd zero going 3050mv. Should be a sweet set up

Lot of Grendel converters, me included, but looking to run some premium brass and seems like the Lapua option might be it….at least until alpha gets their brass on the market.

Wouldn’t it be easier to go 6.5 Grendel to 22 ARC ? There’s probably still some lapua 6.5 Grendel brass out there.

224 Valkyrie 85.5 gr Berger 2881 ave fps. AR 15 24" 6.5 twist.
It's set up for 95 gr SMK around 2710 fps.
So these two cartridges, the 224 V and 22ARC are very similar...

My Grendel to ArC processs is a PITA….FOR MATCH grade ammo.
Is 220 Ruskie easier to convert is my question!
