And this is better than 6.5-CM ... um ... because ... why? I mean, I'd rather have full availability of reloading components for something I already have that works great for me, than a new caliber that's just a few millimeters different that requires a whole new set of "stuff" to create cartridges. But hey ... to each his own.

It could be that at the desired performance level (135@2850) it delivers great accuracy and low ES while the 6.5cm doesn’t. Although at that performance level you are over pressure, not that people here care.
Can’t wait for people asking stupid questions about their 25cm AR not working right.
Just using the admittedly cool term “quarter bore” is gonna pump up those (sales) numbers…

Way better that an 7.5T rebarreled 25-06. If I screw on on my Savage ‘06 can I be in the cool crowd?
Were seeing more and more 25CM's pop up on the podium in the PRS matches.
Flatter and less recoil than a 6.5CM, more energy on target and better splash than the little 6's, the 25 is a winner. We've built around a dozen comp rifles in the quarterbore and they all hammer with hardly any load dev. and low single digit SD's. 42.4 gr H4350, Alpha brass, and a 135 Berger seated .020 off is magic. Depending on the rifle this load runs around 2860-2900.

My trued data on the .25 135 berger has it at a .348 G7 per my kestrel, verified drops to 1660 and these fly at 2885 out of a 26" Bartlein. In load dev, I had these as high as 2950 with no pressure.
My 140 ELD-M load with 6.5 CM runs 2825 with a trued BC of .320, once again verified drops to 1660. I load for accuracy first and foremost. Both of these are capable of higher velocities, but the 25 still comes out ahead.
The 25 is a decent bit flatter and has slightly less recoil. In other words, you aren't losing anything going down to the .25, only gaining in every category except a big bullet selection like the 6.5's have.... which really doesn't matter because the 134 ELD-M and 135 Berger shoot so damn well. I thing with the big Hornady marketing push behind the .25, we will see some new bullets pop up soon.
My opinion, if you're going to the 6.5 PRC, you may as well take advantage of the extra power and push the 153.5 or 156 Berger and have a higher BC bullet. The 25-6.5 PRC's I've built for customers have been a little more finicky to tune and the advantages aren't there over a 6.5 PRC with high BC bullets.
I've built a few for customers and have a bit of personal experience. The x47 family is just easy to load for. I had a load dev sheet a customer sent in with 8 charges spaced .3 grains apart. Everything was well below a half inch with single digit SD's and similar POI's. Basically pick the velocity you want and shoot. The catch is the 25x47 is about 100 fps less than the 25 CM when loaded comfortably. I've seen them dip into the 2800 range with 26" barrels but thats a pretty warm load. Most of the guys are running around 2750. Barrel life should theoretically be slightly better, although I'm close to 2k rounds on my current 25 CM barrel and it just keeps getting better and better. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes over 4k. I'll know in a couple months.
It all depends if the extra 100+ FPS is worth it I guess... dialing a couple extra tenths here and there. Up here in the northwest we tend to have pretty windy matches. I shot a 6BRA for a couple years and it was great, but the little 105 grain 6mm bullets get chewed up by switchy winds, and misses were hard to spot. I wanted something with low recoil that would be more forgiving in the wind and the 25 has been a winner so far. On a typical stage, I'm usually a few tenths less wind than the 6mm guys which helps a ton when the wind is hard to read or switchy. Just more forgiving.
Exactly what I was thinking. If that is the case, when I rebarrel my 6.5cm, this could be the move.
