Re: 3 Mils Right Tactical Rifle Match North TX 5-28/29

We had a great turnout yesterday. Guys we really appreciate you taking the time to come out and shoot. We hope everyone had a good time. Heat was a big factor yesterday, what can we say, it's Texas. Dust and Red River dirt tested competitors and their equipment. Congrats to the winners, you all shot great and excelled under pressure. One consistent response I heard was that guys were not familiar with some of the shooting positions. These stages were created to put you in positions you are not used to. You guys did well.

Thanks to Blackhawk for creating such great targets. I think all the shooters really enjoyed them. Special thanks to all the RO's for all your hard work. and to Sean Cody (NFA Gun Trusts) for coming out and running video on all the stages. If you guys have photos or feedback email them to me and we will get them on the website.

Next match will be in June. I am sure it will be warm so keep that in mind. Pictures and scores from yesterdays match to be posted tomorrow.

Oh yeah...the 'off' shooting positions were indeed a challenge!! The last stage (9 pistol & move to the 3 rifle) me being a southpaw trying to set up on that incline...I felt like a damn spider monkey trying to ride a football. Wound up just going off hand...then timing out!

It sounds like everyone had a good time without me this weekend. My wife and I drove up to St. Louis for the weekend for our one year anniversary.

From everyone that I've talked to that shot...the match was fun, challenging, and educational. I hope to make next months match.

LOL - felt the same thing. In my case it was my enhanced profile that presented a challenge: not rolling to the bottom!!!!!!

'enhanced profile' - I lol'd @ that one!

Oh...I forgot to publically thank Doug for bailing this noob's ass out!! In my excitement to load up on the trailer, I forgot my pistol holster & mag holsters!! :0. Doug stepped up & loaned me his Glock .40, holster, 3 loaded mags, mag holsters & 2 boxes of ammo. Now folks, that's top shelf shit right there!
Thnx a ton Doug!! Yer Good peeps...don't care what Chuck says about ya!!

Wanted to say thanks to all the staff who put the match on as well! It was my first rifle match and I had a blast and learned a ton!

Thanks for all the guys on squad 2, it was great to meet everyone.

To everyone nervous about shooting there first match dont be. I had shot a bunch of pistol stuff but no rifle matches and was worried my equipment and I wouldn't be up for it. But I shot a stock SPS Tactical with a Bushnell elite 4200 and toploaded the entire match.

Again thanks to the staff and all who helped make this match happen!

You did a really good job IMO. Squad 2 was a blast to be on.

rrflyer... dangit! That was you? I was wondering if you were there. You definately can rip a pistol and I'll say it again, "Never trust a guy with red magazines."

You shot well, Squad 2 was definately a fun bunch!

I would like to thank all the shooters that came to the match, we had a lot of positive input concerning the targets.

Also I would like to thank Sean Cody with Gun Trusts (281-451-4175) he came up from Houston just to video tape the match. You should see his work soon.

We are working on a challenging stage for our remote control targets for the June match, you may want to practice shooting under time for appearing and disappearing targets.

Re: 3 Mils Right Tactical Rifle Match North TX 5-28/29

So who's all down for the June match? It's gonna be a hot one!

I just picked up an AICS 1.5 for the VTR and dropped my bolt off to have my badger knob installed. I was going to have my current stock fitted for CDI bottom metal, and have some side mounts installed, i figured instead I'd just get a new chassis. That was the last match I'll top load, and I'm still trying to learn how to shoot in odd potions.

Yup that was me. I totally forgot about the message you sent me until after the match! Hope to see yall out there again soon.

Re: 3 Mils Right Tactical Rifle Match North TX 5-28/29

Who needs a pistol when you smoke them at distance with a rifle? A pistol is the last line of defense, if they get that close, you might as well do the honorable thing and end it all....LOL At least thats what the Japs thought a pistol was for.

Congrats Justin and to the 3MR guys for a great first match. A big thank you goes out to Doug@blackhawk and to Ross Precision Gunworks for their donations of both time and product. Also a big thanks to the ROs for their efforts.
