300 PRC update

Maybe I read that wrong but are you saying prefits work with a Deviant action?

We're saying the same work required to chamber/thread a barrel would be necessary whether it be a 700 or one of our actions, and since prefits are available, in the case of the Ruckus it would actually be easier and cheaper.

How does Retumbo compare to RL26 for velocities on the 225/230? I got Retumbo left over... but I can't seem to find RL26.

Don't know...this weekend I should have some load data on RL-26...so I can probably give it to you after Sunday. So far....for me it is N565, Retumbo, Maybe RL -26 when I get data........ big gap... H1000.....HUGE GAP.... RL-33.

I've yet to find anything as good as N565 for me...in my gun....in my conditions....for my developed loads.

Range report

My 24" MPA tube seems fast to me...

This trip out with Rl 26... match 225s

70°..70%H..750 feet..B29.86

74.5..2870
74.7..2877
74.9..2882
75.1..2902

Stopped there....last test with H1k....the faster the sloppier... started seeing same results and running out of time...(It has a strip and start each string at not greater than 86°)....

My barrel seams to like high 27s to low/mid 28s...Have to rework a few and hone in on the jelly...

Just sharing

Gotcha, thanks look forward to hearing your report!

Thread has been super helpful getting ahead of this.

It will be gone before I'm home from work. Plus I'm out of cash until payday. They had 203 bottles of Varget 2 days ago at Powder Valley...and it's all gone now. The Hornday brass is currently at 9x fired and still holding up decent with moderate loads. If I keep the 230's under 3000fps I'm good ;)

You're golden. The way I look at it is the faster they sell out the first lot, the more likely they'll keep them on the schedule for an Apr. run. I got 2 this time round, should be here tomorrow...that'll be plenty till spring.

I thought Hornady brass was the worst brass in the history of man according to the forums?

Yep...can't wait to get the 'good stuff'....it is bad when you want to really push the pressure. To be honest...maybe everyone should have some Hornady brass...because it shows pressure early...and may save some damage to your rifle or......your face....when doing load development.....then run the good stuff when you need 50 firings from your brass and better consistency.

It's not bad brass....the softness is a feature! ;)

I'd be interested to see what you get with some N565. I never keep loads long enough for it to matter...but interested to see my loads when it gets 90F+ outside in the summer....actually..I just can't wait until i'm not constantly cold every day :(

For the Lone Peak Fusion TI hunting rifle... few more days til I can go pick it up.

I got my ADG brass today. Wall thickness at the neck was 0.016. Total diameter (0.308+0.016+0.016) of 0.340. So, I ordered 336, 337, and 338 bushings. Hopefully one of those is the ticket.

Just measured my new ADG brass with a tube mic - my neck thickness is running .0151" - .0153"

Edited to add:

(100)
Avg weight 262.0grs
Min 260.9grs
Max 262.8grs
Std dev .52

That makes 2 grains heavier than my batch of Hornady, and about the same std dev.

I think the Retumbo is completely burned by about 20 inches....you may have better speeds with RL-33. RL-33 sucks donkey butt for me...however...it may be great for you with that long barrel that needs a more prolonged powder burn. If you lived closer..I'd give you some to try out.

I’ve had some N565 waiting on the ADG that just showed up !! Does anyone have any data for 565 and the 230 A-tips ? And has anyone sacrificed a case to Aztec that they would like to share ??

I'm using 78.5gr of N565 with the 230gr A-TIPS... WARNING!!!!! That is HOT and using Hornady brass. I intend to start at around 75gr and work up since the ADG brass most likely has less case capacity and will shoot hotter with less powder.

I got my 250 ADG cases today. I prepped 50 of them and will load them tomorrow for a Sunday trip to the range. I haven't weighed them yet, but I did measure a few of the necks. All seemed to be 13.5 - 14 thousandths.

ALSO...

I got my LE Wilson seater die a little bit back, so will be using that for the first time with the ADG.

Fun times.

If anyone has a H20 capacity for the ADG I’ll try and run quick load on it.

Here's my data so far, no signs of pressure at 78.0g so running up to 79.0g next. Gun is a Seekins Havk with 26" barrel. I'm hoping to get upper 2800's, as I'm not trying to push it too hard. The factory Hornady 225g ELD Match is shooting at 2,883fps out of my gun, which seemed fast, but I'll take it!

This is with Hornady brass, not ADG.

More info:

- External neck diameter of a loaded round is .3365 - .337.
- I also used a mandrel to open up the necks, then...
- I used a .335 bushing to size them back
- If I have time, I'll get external neck size of all loaded rounds (first 50)
- External neck diameter of a new case is .333

Weighed 25 ADG cases post-prep (slight material loss from chamfer/deburr, but not really relevant):
