What is the consensus on the best full length sizer for the PRC?
Looks like it uses 3.850 magazines, which have a ~3.750 internal length depending on brand.Anyone know the internal dimensions of the Bergara AICS magazine for the .300 PRC? Thanks
Any idea why they dropped the AICS mags in the new rifle lineup?Looks like it uses 3.850 magazines, which have a ~3.750 internal length depending on brand.
I agree, maybe I'm overanalyzing here...but didn't know if one may offer an advantage over the other. May just load up both and see which my rifle likes better.with the correct shot placement...I don't think the Elk is going to argue for or against any of them.
My 300WM loves the 220gr ELDX but my 300PRC not so much. It likes 220gr scenars and 225gr ELDM's. Weird one.I agree, maybe I'm overanalyzing here...but didn't know if one may offer an advantage over the other. May just load up both and see which my rifle likes better.
What chart type is that?OCW results with new lapua brass. Definitely looks promising. As stated in other posts, necks were extremely tight. Initially ran thru .307 mandrel and seating pressure was over 100 psi. Then ran some .308 mandrel and got seating preasure in the 40-60 psi range.
All charge weights were 3 shots, except 78.2 where I was warming up the barrel.

Chronoplotter. The software is free and the guy who developed it is very responsive if you have any problems. Highly recommendWhat chart type is that?
The Bergaras come with CIP length mags, you can load up to 3.750. I have 250 A-Tips running in an identical magazine setup, mag length is .050 off the lands in my rifle. Is there such a thing as a factory production rifle that will magazine feed anything heavier than 212’s? I really like the idea of being able to shoot up to 240g bullets. From a hunters perspective I don’t think this cartridge will take off the way the 300WM has unless you can magazine feed it. Hope I’m wrong though?
That is an AICS “standard” (such as it exists), specifically the “CIP” length variation. The big reason is the additional fraction of an inch of cartridge that fits into the magazine.Any idea why they dropped the AICS mags in the new rifle lineup?
I need my action to come in first!I've been seeing a LOT of Hornady 300PRC Match ammo in retail stores lately. Not my thing...but things are looking up for you guys that shoot retail stuff. Before the fall of the year....you should see a ton of Berger hunting ammo for 300PRC. Look for Lapua brass, Federal Primers, VV powder, and atleast 3 options on bullets...including the 245gr EOL in their hunting line.
When that happens.....save your Lapua brass...there will always be people looking to buy some once fired.
SEATING DEPTH with 230gr A-Tips.
What CBTO and jump did you find worked best for your rifle?
I have loaded up 5 different CBTO groups of 6, at the same charge weight (seems fairly happy at 2847fps) for testing this weekend.
AXSR with Proof prefit carbon 1:8" barrel, 26".
The SAAMI load is around .150", it's shooting OK, but could definitely be better.
Hoping to get some good groups going with these test rounds.
Keen to hear your about your experiences.
I ended up with 2.880 B-to-O which is 0.1 jump for my Christensen Arms ELR.I'm at .082" jump.... 2.880" base to ogive on a loaded round. Running an average of 2935 fps out of my Ruger precision rifle.
I was very surprised, when I adjusted my seating depth from .125 to .1" my velocity dropped from 2925 to 2876fps. Good grouping!View attachment 7657703View attachment 7657704View attachment 7657705View attachment 7657706
Seating depth, jump tests from 0.150”, 0.135”, 0.100”, 0.080” and 0.060”.
0.135” is good, might load some more up with minor tweaks up and down. 0.130” & 0.140” perhaps.
230gr ATips
ADG brass
215GM primers
ADI AR2225 powder
1:8” 26” barrel
2847fps
Barrel only has 110 rounds through it so far, going alright.
Will have to re-chrono it now the seating depth and charge have been decided... That's a big drop in MV... Strange.I was very surprised, when I adjusted my seating depth from .125 to .1" my velocity dropped from 2925 to 2876fps. Good grouping!

Does anyone have the neck diameter measurement of a loaded round in Lapua brass for the.300PRC? Looking at ordering a custom honed die. Thanks

I am using brand new Hornady brass. Primers are Federal 210M's. This is a brand new rifle with 13 rounds down the pipe. 30" SS Proof Heavy Palma.
76.0 grains of Retumbo 2823 fps (1 shot only out of a clean new barrel) Very sticky bolt.
75.0 grains of Retumbo 2770 fps {1 shot only) Bolt opened easier.
74.0 grains of Retumbo 2701 fps (1 shot only) Bolt opened easily, not sticky at all.
76.0 grains of H1000 2856 fps average (5 shots starting with a clean barrel) Not as sticky as the Retumbo at 76.0 grains, but close. .280" group
75.0 grains of H1000 2818 fps average (5 shots starting with a clean barrel again) Not as sticky as the 76.0 grains of H1000, but still stiff. .260" group
Both loads of H1000 shot 5 shots into 1 raged hole that is easily covered with a dime at 100 yards. Group size above. Could not believe it. Especially out of a clean barrel.
I definitely make sure that my barrel and especially the chamber are dry. I do know that is not the issue.
Could you measure the base of the fired brass just above the web of the case and post it here?
