Also note that there are a decent number of us out there that have small chambers - growing consensus is that there are some small/bad reamers floating about. I had to go custom, so got a Whidden. As @b2lee says, Wilson makes some really good stuff - I use their seaters and love them. Hornady? Tried and no - I had dramatic consistency issues. Other "mass market" dies? Haven't used them, so can't comment - been happy with Whidden, though.
Looks like it uses 3.850 magazines, which have a ~3.750 internal length depending on brand.

I am planning an Elk hunting trip and came across a box of 200 gr eld-x. I also have the 220 gr eld-x. Which do you guys think would be better for Colorado Elk? I've tried like hell to find some 212 gr eld-x but no luck. Any other recommendations that I should be on the lookout for that would be better suited for 300 PRC and Elk? Thanks!
I agree, maybe I'm overanalyzing here...but didn't know if one may offer an advantage over the other. May just load up both and see which my rifle likes better.
My 300WM loves the 220gr ELDX but my 300PRC not so much. It likes 220gr scenars and 225gr ELDM's. Weird one.
I forgot to mention. I harvested my elk last year with the 220gr ELDX and my 300WM at 581yrds. I was at 9400ft and 40 degrees. I shot my 300WM out to a mile in those conditions and didn't go transonic until 2k. The 212gr and 220gr ELDX should do well on any elk you encounter. I was still pushing 1000ft-lbs + of energy out to about 1400 yards with the 220's. Not sure how the 212gr stack up.
OCW results with new lapua brass. Definitely looks promising. As stated in other posts, necks were extremely tight. Initially ran thru .307 mandrel and seating pressure was over 100 psi. Then ran some .308 mandrel and got seating preasure in the 40-60 psi range.
All charge weights were 3 shots, except 78.2 where I was warming up the barrel.

Is there such a thing as a factory production rifle that will magazine feed anything heavier than 212’s? I really like the idea of being able to shoot up to 240g bullets. From a hunters perspective I don’t think this cartridge will take off the way the 300WM has unless you can magazine feed it. Hope I’m wrong though?

The Bergaras come with CIP length mags, you can load up to 3.750. I have 250 A-Tips running in an identical magazine setup, mag length is .050 off the lands in my rifle.
Could jam into the lands at mag length with 210 Bergers, the ogive on the A-Tips is just a little too long and slippery.
That is an AICS “standard” (such as it exists), specifically the “CIP” length variation. The big reason is the additional fraction of an inch of cartridge that fits into the magazine.
I've been seeing a LOT of Hornady 300PRC Match ammo in retail stores lately. Not my thing...but things are looking up for you guys that shoot retail stuff. Before the fall of the year....you should see a ton of Berger hunting ammo for 300PRC. Look for Lapua brass, Federal Primers, VV powder, and atleast 3 options on bullets...including the 245gr EOL in their hunting line.

What CBTO and jump did you find worked best for your rifle?
I have loaded up 5 different CBTO groups of 6, at the same charge weight (seems fairly happy at 2847fps) for testing this weekend.
AXSR with Proof prefit carbon 1:8" barrel, 26".
The SAAMI load is around .150", it's shooting OK, but could definitely be better.
Hoping to get some good groups going with these test rounds.

I ended up with 2.880 B-to-O which is 0.1 jump for my Christensen Arms ELR.
Seating depth, jump tests from 0.150”, 0.135”, 0.100”, 0.080” and 0.060”.
0.135” is good, might load some more up with minor tweaks up and down. 0.130” & 0.140” perhaps.

I'm extrapolating between what I've seen and what I know. I've seen an AI AX-SR in 300 PRC at Mile High and also see one on Mile High's website. So I assume it's now a factory option. I bought an AX-MC in 338LM, then bought a Bartlein barrel in 300 PRC, a 300 WM bolt and 300WM magazine. I've shot it with Hornady factory ammo with 225 ELDMs and handloads with 230 grain A-Tips. No problems. You'd need to look at the factory AX-SR specs, check the magazine, etc. And bring your wallet. Maybe 2 wallets. Anybody seen my wallet?

If I am getting high pressure signs with my handloads using Hornady brass, will a higher quality, more robust brass like Lapua or ADG allow me to use that same load without the pressure signs as seen using the Hornady brass?
For example, using 76.0 grains of Retumbo or H1000 I start to get a sticky bolt. Not any pressure signs on the primer except a little bit of primer flattening with the 76.0 grains of Retumbo. Bullet is a Berger 220 Hybrid.

I am using brand new Hornady brass. Primers are Federal 210M's. This is a brand new rifle with 13 rounds down the pipe. 30" SS Proof Heavy Palma.
oh...so...wow...you are having sticky bolt with 76 grains of Retumbo and a Berger 220 Hybrid...wow...can you tell us what speed you are getting out of that 30" barrel?
I've had much better luck with Lapua than I did with the ADG...and the Hornady 300PRC brass was pretty humbling...I did have good luck with the Hornady 375 Ruger brass I necked down to 300PRC...
I had ZERO luck with Retumbo....didn't like H1000....settled on RL-26 with a back up of N565....until N568 comes out.
Also, make sure that bore is DRY....if you have any kind of fluid in that thing.....cleaning solvent....cutting fluid...whatever...you will see some serious pressure issues. Hence...those that do the one shot...clean....one shot clean.....can see some pressure.

Both loads of H1000 shot 5 shots into 1 raged hole that is easily covered with a dime at 100 yards. Group size above. Could not believe it. Especially out of a clean barrel.
I definitely make sure that my barrel and especially the chamber are dry. I do know that is not the issue.

After all the messing around I finally have a good shooting 300PRC with multiple loads shooting 1/2 moa or better. I'm running a 28" proof ss M24, 9 twist barrel, area419 Sidewinder muzzle brake. I'm running the 225gr ELDM and 220gr scenars.

75.5gr RL26 average speed of 2942fps. With average es in low teens..thanks to my V3 Autotrickler...
77.6gr H1000 average speed 2944fps with average es in low teens.

77.5gr of IMR7977 Average speed at 2945fps with average es in the mid to low teens.
My barrel/brake combo likes 2935fps to 2955fps so I'm trying to stay in that accuracy node. Just so happens all three powder charge nodes match up pretty damn close. The loads listed are my loads for my 300PRC.
I have recently loaded up on 225gr ELDM and a few extra pounds of RL26 so that's what I'm going to run until I run out. I'm also shooting some factory ammo I've been sitting on for the brass.
I was finally able to reach out to a mile today shooting factory 225gr ELDMS. The wind was running 15mph with 20+mph gusts at 3:00 o'clock. Damn wind was giving me hell. I managed to get 6 out of 15 shots on a 24x24 plate. Not my best day today and not my worst.

Could you measure the base of the fired brass just above the web of the case and post it here?
I've quit shooting the 300 PRC till my smith gets a reamer to correct the undersizing issue. Third firing on my RL26 75 grain, ADG brass load makes for *very* firm bolt lift.
