I thought this might help some guys out starting to load the heavies. This is what I put together for myself, for easy comparison. Some loads might be conservative to some of you guys!

You are spot on with my findings also. I shoot 208 Amax's with 75.6 gr H-1000 and 210 Bergers with 76 gr H-1000. I played with RL-22 but it varies too much with temp. I love the H-1000 but elk hate it.

Are you loading to SAAMI COAL? I load mine to .010 off (about 3.650" coal) and in Win. brass start seeing pressure in the 77.8-78 gr. range. In Nosler/Fed. it's about 76.8-77.

In my factory 700P, I start seeing pressure signs at 79.2 H1000 with 208AMAX, Win brass, CCI 250. Everything between 78 and 79 shot sub-MOA. The throat is really long, and I'm seated .030" off the lands - so my COAL is REALLY LONG.

My load is 78.5gr H1000 with velocity at 2900-2940.

My barrel seems slow in comparison with numbers published by others. But I have a lame shooting chrony beta so who knows what my actual velocity is?

Maybe I'm a puss, but I'm at 71.7 H1000 with 208 amax and keeping at around .5 MOA. Will I gain that much if I push it another 5-10%. I quit going up because it gave pretty good accuracy, but I never saw any signs of increase pressure.

It depends on your velocity and at what ranges you intend to shoot it. At my velocity, my load should just about make the magic 1 mile. I had some lower accuracy nodes, but figured that the whole point in .300WM and a high BC bullet like the 208AMAX is EXTREME RANGE.

My load for 208 A Max is 75.5 gr H-1000. Gives 2950 out of a Kreiger 10 tw 28" long. Sub 1/2 moa accuracy.
I have a new load for the Hor 225 HPBT of 74.1 gr H-1000 gives 2840 fps @ shoots .192" @ 100 yd 5 rnd group.
I have a tight chamber, & moly tho, so YMMV.

I have been pusing the 210 Bergers out of my rock creek barrel for over a year now using the RL 22. I have also been reloading for a custom built 7mm STW and using the RL 25 and having really good luck and velocity with it. So I gave it a whoorl and tried some different charges using my same overall length and the RL 25 and was more than satisfied with the results. I was able to reach 2950 fps without any signs of pressure or sticking. The RL 25 was more consistant across all powder charges. I had sub moa groups with everything that I tried. It just happened that the my higher charges ended up with the best groups. Cant really complain about that.

You dont see too many people posting load data using the RL25 as much so you might give it a try.

I don't think so. In my experience moly = less pressure = lower velocity. So I have had to use more powder with moly coated bullets to get the same velocity as non-moly coated bullets. In my experience, about .5gr more in .223 and .7gr more in .308.

I believe I am not alone.

Yes you are right Colt993. The reason for the loss of velocity is lose of pressure. Less pressure so you can add more powder over max load and have higher velocity because of the slick barrel.You have to compensate for less pressure.

My last range trip I was running about 2830-40 with 220 SMK and H1000 @ 76gr in Win case and Fed Match 215m primer. The annealing to the cases was not really done well so I will have to go back and run some more rounds. I was able to get into the .5's with 76.0gr and pretty consistent.

225 Hornady BTHP load is 78 Gr H1000, ~.3 moa # 300 yards, COL 3.56", .006" off, 2888 fps in Frontier headstamp OR R-P.

208 BTHP load is 79 gr H1000, ~.35-.4 moa @ 300 yards, .006" off, untested velocity in R-P Case.

I'm using Federal Match primers per the new NATO load spec.

I've been playing with 208 Amax with H1000 and have gone slowly up to 82gr with little sign of pressure. Sendero with about a 25 inch factory barrel (2 threading jobs is why about 25). Easy sub MOA and 2930fps area. CCI primers, Win brass and seated to 3.6. From what you guys are posting I would not recommend this load.

If you can find them go with the 215 bergers. You'll be pushing them faster than the 210 vld or the 208 amax with the same charge weight because of its shorter bearing surface. You can run the exact same charge weights
