Re: 5.56 HomeDefense Ammo Suggestions
I have some winchester 55 grain fragniable ammo and it penetrates3/8 plywood at 25 yds , 50yds, and 100 yds. personally I wouldnt trust an air rifle to not penetrate a wall in a new construction home where as an older home with plaster and mortar would be a different story , even new buildings that look like they are masonary are nothing more than styrofoam with a masonary coating known as drive it .
I have to question the logic of searching a house instead of barricading the room your in and waiting on the law enforcement to show up . unless there are children in the house then all bets are off and going to them would be a priority , I understand that as a parent . you have to use the right tool for the job and that changes with time . 10 years ago we suffered a home invasion and the weapons used were a aluminum ball bat and a choke hold ( I run right by my pistol to confront the intruder my wife was beating with a bat) and ended up on the front yard in my fruit of the looms choking the creep out.
now days the kids are gone and I will assume a static position in my bed room with the old mossberg 12 guage loaded with number 4 copper coated bb,s of the 3 inch persuasion. yes I am banking on a tight pattern at 10 ft to do the job . the reason for the pump gun is simple . I have used one for 40 years and I feel more comfortable with the manual of arms than any other.
