Does any one have any experience with this older wildcat? Im looking for a 6mm with cheap (<75cents per) readily available brass that doesnt require more than 40gr of powder to fill the case. Feel free to try to talk me away from this round but I'm looking for a mild 6mm with barrel life around the 2500-3000rnd range. Id like to push 105s to 2800-2900fps

IMO any savings on brass are likely to be over-run by more expensive dies, reamers, chambering for a wildcat round. You've got lots of choices from the common chamberings.

Straight 6BR will do 2850 with a 105 and only 30gr of powder. Stupid accurate, good barrel life, Lapua brass will last forever and is around 90 cents a piece.

If you can track down a couple hundred pieces of Norma Dasher brass that would be another viable option. There's some brass for sale on this site right now. Run that at 2850 and your barrel life will be pretty close to the 6BR territory.

Bigger cases like 6x47 or 6xC would be lower on my list, you start to have to use more powder than the above and that works against your goal of barrel life. You don't need a case that big if you only want to run 2800-2900 fps.

Agreed, my 6xc load is 39.4 of H4350 for a 105 rdf and that puts it at 2990. If you were going to run it 100 fps slower then a 6br sounds ideal.
The only thing is the cost of the brass is about 95 cents per instead of 75 cents. But the saving will come back with only 30 gr vs 40 over the life of a barrel. How much brass do you need that its your most pressing expense consideration?

6XC w/ 26" Hark Hill
.020 off lands with a 105 hybrid
38.6gr H4350
2990 FPS
other node around 40gr and 3140FPS

feeding issues possible with 6BR, slightly more expensive brass, and slightly longer barrel life

do you want to use varget or h4350?

if you're only chasing 2850 i see no reason to do anything besides 6BR

Maybe it's just me, but I found the 6-250 to be a real chore to load for. Neck up 22-250 brass and deal with donuts, neck down 250 savage brass and try to find some. H 4350 and Varget seem to be the go-to powders and work well with this chambering, but I find it to be real finicky in what it likes. I bought a second hand RPA Quadlock in 6-250, Krieger 30 in , nice two stage RPA trigger and Masterclass stock and shot F Class open for a number of years, and did OK with it, but all of the above is why I believe this chambering does not seem to have much of a following. Do yourself a favor - go with a 6 Dasher, Lapua brass, custom barrel of your choice and don't look back. There's a reason that the 6-250 didn't get much love.
