6.5 47 lapua

Have the 120's up to 37.8 var get with both br4s and 450's. As soon as a put them in the lands 5 thousands. Boom ,holding 1 1/4 at 300 with a breeze. Doing a little more work at 5 thousands jam then off to see what 140's with h4350 can deliver.

Berger 130gr VLD are shooting better than anything else out of my rifle at the moment. My best grouping has come from 39.2gr of ADI AR2209 (Equivalent to RL15, H4350). I've run Lapua Scenar 123gr, Scenar L 120 and 136gr, 123gr Nosler Custom Comp and 129gr Nosler Accubond LR - I have not been able to get these performing the way they should IMO, whereas the Berger's have been pretty consistent. I'll tinker around with AR2208 next (Equivalent to Varget) and see if that makes a difference for the other projectiles. Running CCI450 primers also.

Rifle is a Tikka T3 with a 26" 1in 8 twist Maddco barrel. I'm new to reloading so I haven't played around with seating depth yet, just making sure the bolt closes smoothly and the bullet gets out of the barrel safely.

140 gr. Hornady Match BTHP
36.0 gr. Varget
CCI SR primer
2656 fps. avg.
Krieger 22” 1:8.5
1/2” moa or better @ 100 yds.

140 gr. Hornady AMax
38.5 gr. Reloader 17
CCI SR primer
2673 fps avg.
Krieger 22” 1:8.5
1/2” moa or better @ 100 yds.

In my 47 with the 123gr Amax i have tried AA4350, Wild Boar and Hunter but couldnt get the velocity. Big Game i was getting 2930ish and good accuracy but then tried N540! well.... top load i was getting 3150fps with great accuracy but settled a fair bit lower at 2970ish.... again with awesome accuracy!

Doing some load development in a couple of days. Hopefully there will be something positive to come out of it.

Got the Lapua Scenar L 136gr pills to group well with AR2208 and CCI 450 primers. 36.6, 36.8 and 37.2gr all worked well with 36.8 grouping around 0.4 at 100 metres. I made the mistake of rushing most of my shooting today as I didn't have as much time as I would have liked, but those loads all showed good potential for further fine tuning. I'll try the 36.8gr load at 500 metres tomorrow so hopefully it holds up well.

My meplat trimmer and pointing kit should arrive next week so that will be the next stage of testing.

just on a whim I thought I needed a lght bullet coyote load and started with the 100 NBT and IMR 8208XBR and with no data I started at 33 grs and ended quit at 39 and wasnt seeing overpressure there but shooting through the same hole off a rest at 100 yards and getting 3250 fps I decided to stop,,all the three shot groups from 37-39 grs were 1/4 or less with 38 in the .1`s right at 3200,,

also loaded some Berger 120 BT and RL15 at 38 grs was shooting under 1 inch 5 shot groups at 300 off Atlas Bipod and rear bag but havent chronied them yet,,gonna try that load at 300 yard egg shoot tomorrow,,

I'm getting 2900 with 140 hunting VLD and 40.5 using Power Pro 2000MR. Also my best powder for 123 Scenar paper / steel target shooting long distance. Barrel is 26" Bartlein.

I switched from VarGet to H4350 behind the 123 Scenar after not liking the groups at 600 yards. Only thing was this powder required a lot of powder to even remotely move it along at a decent speed..... 41.2 grains 2829-2835-2828-2831-2820-2820 fps@ 20' from the muzzle from a 24" GAP built TR @ 2.0850" CBTO= .020" off the lands. I didn't go above 41.2 grains simply because the group opened up at lot at that charge weight and seemed too slow of a powder for the 123.

The best groups came from the middle of the range 38.9-40.9, I settled on 40.6 H4350 @ 2.0850" CBTO at an average 2771 fps@20' using my 35P. Which is what Lapua has their factory 123 Scenar ammo traveling along at......2790 fps.

25" lija barrel
Cooley brake
Trued 700 action
Manners t5-a mini chassis

I am new too reloading so I used the load data sent with the rifle that had 200 rounds through it. 39gr of h4350, 140gr hybrids, new lapua brass, COAL 2.815, and cci450 magnum primers. It ended up only producing speeds of 2660fps but shot well under 1\2 MOA groups. The only issue is it showed swollen primers after fired. There were zero other pressure signs. Any suggestions on the primers? Once again I'm brand new too loading and the 6.5x47 caliber.
I meant too say cratering sorry.

To help with the cratering you might want to send your bolt to Gre-tan and get it bushed. If it hasn't been done yet. Your using a large firing pin on small primers on top of Remington's slighty oversized hole.

is this safe to try?

Seems like a lot of R-17 behind a 140. Never used R-17 myself but noticed most the loads on here for the 6.5x47 are 36-39 gr of R-17. Only way to really find out if this load is safe for your rifle is run an OCW drop 10% of the final charge weight work up in .5 increments and check for pressure signs. That load may be safe for that particular guys rifle, but might scream case head separation/blown primers in yours. Never assume a load is safe because it's posted on a reloading website, always work up to it and check for pressure signs.

Every 6.5x47L I have loaded for (8 rifles in this caliber) whether 1:8, 1:8.5 or 1:9 twist shot fantastic with 38.0gr Varget or 37.4gr RL-15 & 123 Scenars seated .010" out of the lands.

I tried this load at 300 Monday and again today at 600,,it is a very mild load at 2920 fps in my rifle but it shoots less than 1/4 moa at 300 and from the looks of the first try at 600 in a gusty crosswind may root out the 130 VLD H4350 load as my favorite,,more resting to come,
