I ran a super beats 4 port up against the fat bastard gen3, recoil was slightly less on the apa, but with the top ports, it kept the target in middle of reticle in the scope upon recoil with the down force provided. The super beast would give some muzzle rise and the target was 4-5 mill low and 2 mil right in scope. I do have some mbm brakes on my hunting rifles.
Edit, this is mostly shooting with just a front bag support, positional stuff. But also noticed more muzzle control on the bench as well.

For about the same money you could purchase Eric Cortina's PRS EC Tuner Brake. It's a good brake and you can play with the tuner if you want to, or just leave it in one spot and shoot like a normal brake.
All brakes are loud and will blast the guy next to you, it's just part of the game.
Don't listen to Ultimate Reloader, Bolt Action Reloading or whatever other channels Gavin has. Paid shill.
And very reasonably priced, too.

Thank You . However I felt pretty stupid leaving My shooting bags at My range . So now have Two sets and one along with all else necessary resides inside MY custom fabricated truck storage box. Combination exotic hardwoods and honeycomb S glass epoxy with ballistics armor
As each side has the option of mounting opposing stacked racks ,each drawer can carry up to #24 long guns . Along with numerous other items .
Drawers slide on opposing runners of HDPE slides ,easily handles 500 lb. each . I cobbled them together prior to our moving .
I’ve posted a few times here regarding if anyone was using SMK 150gr and I’ve seen folks ask a few questions as well so thought I’d make a post w some data.

My final loads are:
- Lapua small primer 6.5 CM brass (3x fired as of this load).
- CCI small rifle mag primers
- Reloder 16: 42.5gr
- bullets: SMK 150gr (obviously)
Ok so Sierra doesn’t give an actual G7 from what I’ve found BUT I recently picked up an FX Chrono and directly measured it. Below are velocities and measured BCs.
TLDR:
Avg Velocity - 2813 ft/s
G7 BC - 0.334
The last pic is the group of 10 shots as well.
Anyway hope this helps anyone thinking of trying them!

Huh? A 90 gr bullet out of a 12.5" barrel at 2880fps? That's pretty sporty. What powder?
I suspect you're using an 8tw? Lower elevation? That bullet has been pretty consistent 350-355g7 for me in a saum, and 65cm with a 7.5tw. My DA is usually 3k-5K depends on the season.
Missed that my bad, all barrels are different I guess. I've always had very high bc observed from the 95, 110 and 150 pointed smk. They're just a lil picky.
0.336 from a 150 seems high to me. My 300 PRC shooting 245 EOLs are running 0.430 give or take. The 140 Bergers are around 0.3.
The 153 and 156 Berger are both around 350-352g7, and I've verified to 1300y at my atmospherics. Applied ballistics lists the 150 smk at 0.352, there are 2 pdm on file, one is 0.365 and other is 0.350. Any 6.5mm bullet over 150gr is going to hang with the best bullets per caliber, especially at the speeds they can be driven with moderate recoil in the short mags.
A 153 atip, 153.5/156 Berger, 150 smk, all 4 bullets are north of 350g7. If you're only getting 330 out of that these bullets, I suspect you're borderline to low SG and that's sacrificing numbers.
To the OP, have you verified the twist with a cleaning rod? Stranger things have happened, barrels can get mis-labeled at the manufacturer, or they can ship the wrong item and if it's not double checked before the smith cuts off the ass end of shank, he'll never know the difference.
Get the pressure up, that's the only way, run your 140s in the low 2810-2830 range and it should clean up.
I’ve shot them in the high 2800s, I’ve changed seating depth, I’ve changed about every variable imaginable and the shit still sds above the 10s. The powder is just shit in my opinion at least at this point.
It is a ball powder, lack of consistency and temp shifts are the known short comings. Try a switch to 4350, 16 or N555.
I know. I already use them. I was asking if anyone had gotten better results.
Hit 1955yds about 10 or 11 times today with this load. Impact were broken up between 3 shooting sessions and let barrel cool once it got around 115 -120 degrees. I got a video of the second session where to it took 6 rounds I believe to make an impact.
Later in the day I had 12 rounds left, made 5 impacts and did 3 in a row at one point. Didn’t have the camera on though. But plenty of witnesses!
In this video was the second session. Target is the small berm straight back in the middle of the video field of view. Impact at the end.
Going for 2100 today and try to get better footage of the events.

Funny, the case was around long before the 143gr ELD came out, most used 140gr Amax's if using Hornady bullets.

currently loading 140 Berger Elite Hunters with 40.9 gr N550, Lapua LRP brass, BR2 primers. Bumped the shoulder with Redding S die .002 and noticed that the HS is the same as the new Lapua case (I kept one back for reference). I figured the brass would expand a little more. Also, using Giraud trimmer and none of the cases trimmed after firing just deburred/chamfer. Anybody else seeing this? My other load is 42.2 gr H4350 and the same scenario.
As far as the trimming, I experienced the same with my Lapua brass. It finally started to trim at 1.910 after the second firing. I also resize a little tighter at .001. But I agree it doesn’t appear new Lapua brass grows quickly.
I think it is also an indication that your sizing die is set perfectly.
Lapua is thicker brass than anything else I have shot so tends to be more resistant to stretching.
I am going to be moving to a 6.5 Creedmoor next year in PRS shooting Berger 156 EOL’s. I have one 7.5 twist Bartlein and one 7.5 twist Geissele barrel. Going to be using H4350 with Lapua SRP brass. Any good loads out there for the 156’s or 153’s?
I did and they were very quick to respond. I was just seeing if there was any experience on here with the combination. Most of the guys in our region that are shooting 156’s and 153’s are in the 40.5-40.6 range of H4350 with Lapua and Peterson brass.
I'm running 38.8gr H4350 behind 153.3s jumping 30k and it hammers at 2630-2640fps from a 28" 7.5tw hawkhill. Still inside the BR variant 6mms on wind calls. Same as my gt running 115 dtac at 2900fps. The only prs rifle that's barely beats it in wind is my 25cm running 135 Bergers at 2880. But they're near a wash. The g7 on my newer lots of 156s is 341 from a 7.75tw Saum at 3000fps, g7 on the 153.5 in the slow 7.5tw creed is 351. I'd run the 153 if you can find em.

I’m running 39.8 H4350 with the 156 at around 2660. Another buddy shooting the same setup runs 39.9…. 39.7-39.9 was a node in my barrel. Never tried to go any higher though you have me curious now.

Interesting, I thought about getting some of these bullets but the Berger stability calculator basically said it would be hit or miss on stability. How far have you taken that load out to? This gives me hope.
I know right now #1 and #7 in the PRS are using 6.5’s with 156’s and or 153’s. I know #7 is shooting 156’s around 2670fps
I know Andy is using a 7.5 twist. I also know Jake Vibbert is shooting 153 A-Tips with a 1-8 twist but he is at a higher elevation than us over here on the east coast. Not sure if Morgun King is using a 7.5 or 8 but he is at a higher elevation as well and could probably use either.
I’m shooting SMK 150s w 42.5gr of RL16 through a 26” 7.5tw barrel at roughly 2815. The shoot lights out! I’ve had them out to over 1700yrs wo a problem. I really think the SMKs are super overlooked!
I have some on order and supposedly Sierra is running them by the end of this year.
They are also heavily pointed from factory and variance in weight is pretty tight… comparable to Bergers from what I’ve measured.
Yea I’m pretty sure they are the highest BC mass produced 6.5 bullet. I am looking forward to getting some of them and the 95smk at the same time as well.
I’ve run some BC calcs myself roughly at sea level and mild pressures and they are around 3.4-3.5 G7 from what I measured over a string of 30 out to 300yrds. Sierra doesn’t list the G7 only the G1.
Applied ballistics has the 150smk listed at 353g7. They have the 153atip at 359g7.
A little bit of an update re: staball 6.5 -> 43gr in Hornady brass with the 143gr (Hornady ELD Blem ala Midway) @ 2.82" has been shooting very well for me. Seating them deeper was key. No idea on velocity that's next (hoping for 2650-2700).
New here, after some help. Just getting into reloading as a hobby, 6.5cm Tikka CTR. Just got some measurement tools, figuring things out. I have some factory Hornady 143gn ELD-X precision hunter ammo, and am comparing it to what I've measured. I've measured the overall chamber length to the lands with a gauge to 2.165" , the factory ammo is 2.2929", making it .1279" to the lands. This ammo is considered accurate?, why such a big gap? It is worth reducing this gap? (should I be putting this question in a new post?)
