First post! I’ve lurked this forum a ton but it’s finally time to make an account and ask a question.
I’m quite used to the creed. I currently have an rpr with a stupid cheap vortex diamondback that I have taken to 1200 and last season I took a bull elk at 450.
Lugging the rpr around is not something I wish to do again. Also I need more guts because while I took an elk 1shot 30 feet of run and buckle. I had to skip over a much larger bull that was out at 800 TWICE. Because I was unsure of the Creedmoor if I missed the heart out there.
I have had a few injury’s involving my shoulder so holding standing shots while pulling a rifle into me is difficult and painful for most 30cal rifles. So I do believe the new 6.5prc is my answer.
I have a new nightforce 4-14x56 SHV in SFP that was a Christmas gift so scope is covered.
My problem is finding rifles in this round that aren’t going to need me to refinance my house.
I have about 2k I can spend and have had my hands on some Christensen’s at sportsman’s that I can afford (1800) just to do some research and find they have some horror stories. Like consistent repeat people with issues in beddingcausing accuracy issues. I can’t really push above that price. And though I adored the carbon ridgeline I’m not sure if it’s worth the risk to see if I get one of the good ones.
I plan on shooting factory Hornady precision hunter until I have enough brass set aside for my loader to set me up.

For just under $1000 the Tikka T3x CTR is a very nice rifle for the price. For just over $1000 the Christiensen Arms Mesa and the Ruger Hawkeye FTW Hunter are not a bad options either. Both would be lighter than the Ruger RPR. That Ruger FTW is a surprisingly accurate rifle with the Hornady Match ammo. Hope this helps and everything comes together for you, have fun shooting.

honestly the difference between a 6.5creed and 6.5PRC, especially with factory ammo, isnt that significant and i'm sure both have taken plenty of elk at 800. add 260 and 6.5x55 to that list of capable 6.5mm cartridges that have been taking elk and bigger for decades

if shoulder is an issue adding 15 grains of powder and subtracting 5-7 pounds from the rifle isnt gonna feel very nice

there is no tikka T3x CTR in 6.5PRC so that's out

but...i'd check out the seekins havak. available in 6.5PRC and 28 Nosler

I hadn’t seen the Tikka in 6.5prc just good old creed.

This is true but it’s still going to feel better than me trying to hold a 7lb 300wm.
It’s not that I can’t shoot 30cal rifles, I can.
A good old army dose of 800mg ibuprofen is mandatory though.
I’d rather not worry about my shoulder on a hunt is what it really and truly boils down to.

Is there really that small of a difference? I’d be hard pressed to believe Hornady would help out with a round that is negligible to the already popular creed, just to accommodate the very few prs shooters. Not arguing, just wondering?

If you find a Christensen Ridgeline in 6.5PRC, it will be one of their newer rifles with Triggertech triggers. I'd lay 100 to 1 it will be a good one.
They had issues several years ago with parts/barrels they outsourced. They brought stuff in-house and by all accounts have everything straightened out. I have my eye on a new Ridgeline in 6.5 Creedmoor with a 20" barrel, that will make a nice handy deer rifle with an Ultra 7 suppressor...

Yeah the one I was playing with at sportsman’s was prc. It was beautifully put together. Dollar test passed.
