6ARC; Craddock/Bartlein cycling issue

Have a seekins factory build that the 223 Wylde barrel was worn out in.

I replaced with a Craddock Precision 24” 1:7 twist rifle +2 gas. The gas port is about .080” as close as I can gauge it.

Using E-Lander Grendel magazines, the Seekins carrier and the bolt that came with the barrel from Craddock. Will cycle fine by hand so it’s not a physical issue from what I can digure

The Superlative gas block is set to full open, no restriction, no bleed off.

It won’t cycle reliably. Using Hornady white box factory ammo, the H1 buffer seems to not return far enough to strip the next round off the magazine, so the fired brass ejects but the following round ends up pointing up into the chamber with the carrier resting against it.

Using a carbine buffer, itll cycle but doesn’t quite have enough ass to completely go into battery; the spent case is ejected, the new round is seated in the chamber but the bolt is resting against the case but out of battery.

I’m a little puzzled here. I don’t have a different brand magazine to try. It seems like a gas issue (the block is aligned correctly, I checked that) but I’m a little reluctant to open the port up yet until Im certain-ish that’s the problem

I can solve this for you. Your gas port isn't big enough. I had this exact same issue, w/ my 20" Craddock rifle +2 gas system.

This thread has been very informative. I’ll say I love the rifle. Built mine with a Ballistic Advantage 18” rifle gas. Extremely accurate to 100 with Hornady match. Shot a doe at about 75 yards last night with the ELD-M and I’m pleased with performance. Now if the dies would get here I’m all set...

My pin gauge came out even smaller than yours at .080 but I possibly could’ve fit a .085”...only had a .090” next
What buffer weight are you using?

Ive got a bit that can run it to .093” and the next size up I have is .109”. Wonder if I should just go big and let the adjustable gas block handle the overage if there is any

Not exactly sure what the weight is, but I tried a carbine buffer, a H1 buffer and one of those ultra light buffers from TacCom (? not sure on that brand but its advertised as lightest around)... changing the buffer weight had little effect. After drilling it out, any and all buffers worked.

Well I drilled it out on the press tonight. Got a nice clean new gas port, patched the barrel, bore is clear. Gonna put it back together and test it at lunch tomorrow

She’s up and running.

I tried a C products mag just to eliminate a variable and worked better than the e-lander but still not quite there; opened the gas port up and tried again with the C products mag and it ran like it was supposed to. Brass was ejecting juuust on the forward side of 3oclock so I opened the gas block a few clicks and now it’s tossing them out at 4oclock as fast as I can pull the trigger.
