6mm BR

I have 114 rounds down my HH 8 tw 26 inch
Not sure if it's going to speed up anymore.
Just started to see how high fps per powder weight
Lapua brass, 95g SMK's, CCI br4's and 4166. 30.0=2823 30.4=2853 30.8=2895 31.0=2941
Magnetospeed. Just one shot per measurement. No pressure signs
Next going to go up to, 31.8 and see how that goes.
And then shoot for groups.

Unfortunetly havent shot it since that outing. I sent my Ultra seater to Forster with some 105 BTHP and 105 Hybrids to have the stem polished as it was leaving a slight ring on the jacket. Waiting for it to come back so I can continue testing.

gotcha...i just got my BR running a couple weekends ago....love this little cartridge...i dont think theres anything it wont shoot into tiny groups.

This is new brass 105g Berger BT target .025 off fed205m and varget from 29.1 to 30.9 in .2g increments

For those of you running H4895, how may rounds are you able to run before you see accuracy fall off?

This is more a factor of how hot you are running and how many rounds you fire in strings, not what the powder is. Any info you're going to get will be pretty worthless without knowing the pressure it was run at and how it was shot. If reasonable pressures you could expect similar to what you'd get with other powders like varget. Probably in the 3000 round range.

this is what im testing...the how many round count question...this is my tactical rifle and will be run at moderate pressures but will be run hard...im just under 500 rounds now.

I should have been a little more specific. Not overall barrel life with H4895, but how many rounds between needing to clean the barrel are you seeing?

Honestly I haven't noticed it needing much. I shoot 300 rounds in a session with no accuracy dropping off that I've noticed. But then again I think some people tend to overclean barrels in general. I ususally clean every 250 rounds for the creedmoor case sizes and 350ish for the smaller BR cases. Usually equates to a cleaning after 2 local matches or 1, 2 days PRS match.

Again, it depends on your load and barrel. Some barrels will tend to dirty up faster (factory than custom hand lapped) than others
Let your target tell you. If you don't notice your accuracy dropping off, then let it go a little.
Most won't go over 200-300. In smaller cases, like the 6br. Cases like 6.5 creedmoor and larger, little more often.
Their is some evidence to say that if carbon is left in the barrel and humidity is also there
that the carbon will start to pit the barrel. Don't know this for sure and don't want to test
or how long this would take, but sounds reasonable.
Just don't take a brass brush with copper remover or carbon cleaner and scrub the barrel clean after every outing.

26" Chanlynn Barrel
Worked up two loads at 100yds.
30.3/Varget/105 HVLD/jammed .010 /CCI450/2890
29.4/4895/105HVLD/jammed .010/CCI450/2905
Shot both these loads at 850yds. 4895 load the winner, holding vertical exceptionally well.

HAd a 28" Bartlien 6BR a few years ago. 29.8/4895/Hybrids/2880.

Saw this rifle shoot exceptional groups at 850! I have the same Chanlynn pre-fit barrel on mine and it's showing promise too. Mine is all with vigin brass. 105 hybrids in front of 30.1 Varget @2870.
Rocky Mountain Rifles. Mark Chanlynn
Is doing Pre-fits now. GREAT barrels!
Kevin's rifle shot half this group size at 850.

anyone ever try different powders, i was able to get 3120fps from virgin lapua brass with rdf 105's
no signs of pressure at all, no issue with primer pocket, everyone i talk to says im way over pressure, by a TON
not trying to reinvent the wheel, just wondering if anyone ever actually had those speeds for sustained amount of time, what was barrel life and case life

Your chrono isn't giving correct velocities if I were to guess, Chrony brand??.

They were right, you can push Lapua brass but doing so will torch the throat, etc. the list goes on. Don't try to make 6mmBR what it isn't.

I've got a very fast barrel in mine, 2915 fps in a 26" with 105 hybrids with 30.3 grains Varget. I had to reduce the load a 10th because of warmer temps now compared to December.

Same problem with getting them in the same hole and I can't hit that damn center. LOL :p

AICS with primal rights kits run flawless for me. But I did order some MDT 6BR mags to give them a try. Waiting on them to show. Have a buddy that shoots for MDT and has been running them hard for the last few months and says they run flawlessly.

I've got the AI w/ Primal Rights kit that are the go to. I've used an unmodified MDT and Alpha mag. Both ran decent, but I haven't used them enough to trust them at a match, yet.
Two MDT 6BR mags are on the way.

AI AICS 10rd with Primal rights mag kit

MDT 12rd with modified Primal rights mag kit

mdt also just came out with a dedicated 12rd 6br/variant mag

they sold out fast - but keep an eye out and snatch one when they come back in stock
Why are the mdt dedicated BR mags not compatible with 3 lug bolts? Is this something a dremel can fix?
It's mainly the Curtis custom actions that have problems with the mags. My ARC Nucleus runs the mags perfectly. I have tested the mags in a Big Horn TL-3, origin, Atlas tactical action and they all ran the MDT 12 br mag perfectly.

26 inch Bartlein, 1:7.7 twist done by GAP. 2 years of competition and practice for PRS style matches, creeping in on 3k rounds without a drop in accuracy or velocity. Love the caliber, here's the two loads. Primal Rights kits, AICS mags. Altus extender as needed. Easy accuracy.

30.5 varget
105 Hybrid
2850 fps
20 thou off

30.2 varget
107 SMK (.270 G7)
2830 fps
20 thou off

30.2 varget, 107 smk, virgin lapua brass, cci 450, 22" Broughton medium palma on a Bighorn Origin Action. 2.335 OAL. Trued out to 2810 fps and .3 moa. 1000 yard target was 8.9 mils, and 2.0 in the wind at a 400 DA. and a steady 10mph 90* wind.

The Primal Rights mag kits with AICS mags work flawlessly.

I shot 5 rounds over my friends Labradar on Sunday, 6 fps ES !!

30.3 gr Varget, 105 hybrid, CCI450, powder weighed to the kernel with a Scott Parker tuned M5.

Head shot at 500Y on 2/3 IPSC and no vertical at 795y. Dope was perfect!

Liking my 6mmBR!
