6X5 Thread V5.0 *new 1/1/21*

Ok, I promise this is the last 6x5 for me for well, 2 weeks while im at work. You guys have re kindled my love of shooting 22's. Thanks. Only issue now is that I have to find some more of this lot of SK Rifle Match.

I shot 5x 6x5 Targets overall. 2x at 50m and 2x at 100m and 1x at 50m off my tripod. I wanted to see how much difference the tripod made. I was quite suprised at the accuracy average with the tripod to be honest.

I also decided to throw my NF NXS 8-32x on the rifle to see how much difference magnification made. My normal scope is a Bushnell Tac Optics 5-15x40 which I run on 15 power when shooting groups. I tested 32x, 22x and 15x with the NXS. I think 22x was best as that shot the tightest groups at 50m. 22x and 32x were very close at 100m and with the wind that was flicky it was a tad harder. Gusty wind from 0 to 5mph.

I also went back to straight behind the rifle which certainly tightened up the groups. With the new trigger when I finally get that it may bring the consistancy better overall aswell.

Quickoz, post as many target as you like! I have your results updated and your now on the 100 yard results. But I think your MOA conversion is off. By my math (please check it) 1.145” is 1 MOA @ 100 meters, where 1.047“ is 1 MOA @ 100 yards, thus 0.573” is 1 MOA @ 50 meters. Please note I round up to the nearest thousandth like I do for averages also, and I dont check everyone’s average if it is listed just the MOA conversion mainly b/c I arrange the results based off the MOA vs the size in inches.

I think your right mate. I may have muddled it up some how. I'll have a play with the numbers and work it out so I get it right in the future. Cant have you yanks thinking us aussies are dumb

Yes you are correct, that was me defaulting to the 50 yard MOA and mixing it with the 50 meter 0.524 at 50 yard and 0.573 at 50 meters. I am using 0.573" at 50 meters. I'll correct my post. Thank you

Well, temperatures here warmed up to 34 degrees F so a nice improvement! Decided to try some new ammo and found the Eley Match to do a bit better than the Lapua CenterX I was using last time. Please update my results with the following jbell!

the only problem with this anschutz - you can't decide whit ammo to buy... all groups from every ammo are demn tight...

Submitted is the Savage B22 Precision with Eley Practice 100. Shot prone with rear bag, TBAC22 TD, Limbsaver x-ring at 1.5” @ 50 yds. 91%humidity, 69 F, 5-7 MPH tail winds at 5-7 o clock.

6x5 at 50yd AVG = .392” / .748 MOA
best= .245” / .468 MOA

I think this is the first Savage B22 Precision on the 6x5. I finally found the magic ammo it likes!

did some testing today, nothing better than previous at 50, but i did manage a bit better average at 100, .563 MOA. didnt beat my previous best 100yd group however

Oh, interesting) IMHO 22lr is limited by ammo, not the barrel, thus results will be the same, but yes will look forward to your outcomes.

This is true once you reach a certain level of quality with barrels, but until your at the custom “match quality“ barrel you will find difference that isn’t necessarily ammo related. As long as your shooting good ammo...

I've been dying to get out and try this challenge for some time. Today was supposed to be very low wind and warmer so I gave it a shot. Unfortunately, the conditions weren't quite ideal and I couldn't get as much consistency as I expected but here are the results, I'm not completely embarrassed by them .

This was shot with my Vudoo V22 off of a Rock BR and rear bag. Conditions were as listed on the target (good, 5-10 from about 7:00). I may have made a mistake by giving my gun a cleaning yesterday, I think that it is still settling in. More reason to try again in the future!! Measurements were with calipers, black edge to black edge (first number) then minus .222 (second number) per a previous post that I saw on here (usually I use Ballistic-x). I used an online calculator (indecorous) to calculate the MOA.

Stay tuned . I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm going to post a considerably better target. I finally got around to playing with my barrel tuner (first target was with no tuner) and it is showing promise of dramatic tightening of groups (during node testing, I had multiple .0s 3 shot groups with the best being a hard to measure .033, I hope that it translates to the 5 shot groups). I hope to shoot another target tomorrow if the winds hold as forecast (first priority is to pick a tuner node and lock that in but shortly after that, I want a better target for this challenge ).

For clarity, the attachment is 3 shot groups, 50y, for node testing (each dot represents a different tuner setting).

Right?!? This is a Vudoo with the Ace / Kukri contour at around 20", and the tuner is an Adaptive Tuning System (ATS) by Kinetic Security Solutions. It is a bit of a different approach than what we usually see for tuners (like a Harrell). It is made for threaded barrels to sit between the barrel and the break / suppressor / or thread protector in my case.

In the picture, please see the bottom two rows, for Eley Match lot 02181. Please use bulls number 2 through 6 (.184, .212, .187, .128, .234, .152 = 1097/6 = 0.183). I did not improve on my best group already posted. I shot the KSS 2500x, B&A trigger, Shilen barrel, McMillan stock, Harrell's tuner using a Caldwell front rest with a PQP top on it, and a Protektor rear bag. Temp - 34F, Hum - 76%, Wind - E 1mph. No cold bore group today.

Brand newb to this rim fire stuff.

Got my Bergara B14R steel barreled action finished & to the range Sunday.
Very happy with how the build came together. Focus was on getting something that would balance well.
Manners EH-4 mini chassis 13# 8oz as pictured.

Tried a 6x5 Sunday. Shot a 50 yards. Bi-pod & rear bag prone. The wind sucked on Sunday it was in my face at line, but blowing from 9:00 at target in front of huge berm 8-12. I backed the magnification down to about 8x & shot both eyes open so I could see what the targets were doing. Wind at target did not seem to match what I felt at the line so it was tough to try timing shots.

Nothing to brag about, but it's a start. All I have for ammo to try was SK Rifle match.

Might need help with group sizes.

I tried using the on target calculator. Software kind of sucks. I can only save to a TGX file?? & I can't take a snip or snap shot from the program.

Anyway if I did it right from top left working down.

I recently purchased a CZ457 Pro Varmint, hoping i could use it as a Base Class rifle, and shoot less expensive ammo. Ive got my Vudoo for bench work and my max accuracy quest. I wont be swapping barrels, triggers etc, i will keep this rifle bone stock. My hope was for a solid 1MOA at 50yd. So far thats proving difficult with CCI Std, etc. after multiple testing days heres my averages to date:

CCI Std: 1.3 MOA - 4 6x5s
Fed HV Match: 1.1 MOA - 4 6x5s
CCI GT 1.6 MOA - 1 6x5

cheap ammo sux, and i hoarded a bunch of CCI and FHVM...

My latest round of testing:

Id like to submit my .732 MOA 6x5 for this rifle with SK Std, and best group .432 MOA with SK Match. Target shot at 50 yd, prone, bipod, rear bag. 12x Super Sniper. Doesnt appear to be many unmodified sub 1k rifles in the 6x5, thought it would be nice to have a few. forgot to take a pix of the rifle in the field, so here she is in the man cave. Winds were light, about 50 degrees

not bad at 100, .948” .905 MOA 6x5, .739“ .706 MOA best group
