Re: 7MM Rem Mag Velocities ?
I've been reloading for the 7mm rem. mag for a very long time and have found some loads that perform excellent and deliver extreme velocity as well.
Win brass
CCI large rifle mag primer
Nosler 120 grain balistic tip BT
73 grains RL22
3587 fps +/- 10 fps
.002 of lands
Win brass
CCI LRMP
Speer 130 grain PSPBT
71 grains RL22
3455 fps +/- 10 fps
.002 off lands
This one is probably one of the finest big game loads I've ever developed and not for the faint at heart, more imporatntly, not shooting a strong action.
Win brass
CCI LRMP
175 grain core lock or a grand slam
72.5 grains RL22
3380 fps
.002 off lands
The above loads have been used by me for a very long time and ina strong action. I don't recomend anyone just loading these cold. In other words work these up from listed data of the same powder and bullet description in half grain increments. I'm not showing any signs of dangerous pressures with these loads though my primers are pretty flat and some cratering is present. I only neck my brass which I find helps with tollorance issues. My action has been faced, lapped and my barrel as well. Pillar bedding is an absolute or at least some custom bedding should be done if shooting for consistent perfprmce as I've been achieving. I've never punched a primer or had any fracturing problems with brass. Accuracy is superior with all the above loads to the extent at 200 yds. I can achieve 1 hole 5 shot groups. seating depth, turned brass, and scaled powder charges are the primary reason in my opinion for this superior performance. Expect some noticable high recoil if your not using mercury tubes or some other high quality system to reduce
