I know someone who called 988 and they helped him calm himself from a bad mental state. There were recommendations for treatment but no one ever sent him anything or came to his apt. Hopefully that’s how it’s supposed to work.

That's all good and great but having dealt with far too many suicidal people, not only on my own time but also in a professional capacity, I am far beyond out of sympathy for it. I'm at the point where if someone wants to go jump off the bridge downtown I say let 'em.
