Thought I'd share some new rifles with you guys! A buddy and I decided to have a couple custom hunting rifles built a few months ago and recently got them finished. The goal was a blend of lightweight and long range capability; I'm sick of carrying an 18lb rifle up and down these Colorado hills! Both rifles were built by the guys at Mile High and once again, they did a great job. Made the first trip to the range today to break in the barrels and start some load work. Chrono decided to start acting stupid so I didn't get much velocity data but played with the 168 HVLD's and 180 ELD match bullets and both rifles show a lot of promise.

Rifle 1:
7 SAUM
GAP tempest action, WSM, nitrided
Proof Research barrel, sendero contour, 24", 8.24 twist
Area 419 Brake
Manners MCS-T stock, elite camo, mini-chassis
Timney CE 2-stage trigger
Vortex Razor 5-20
Weighs 10.7lbs scoped

Rifle 2:
7 SAUM
Defiance deviant hunter, lightened up a bit, DLC coated
Proof Research barrel, sendero lite contour, 24", 8.24 twist
Area 419 brake
Manners EH1, elite camo, mini-chassis
Timney CE 2-stage trigger
Leupold 6.5-20 LRP scope
Weighs 9 pounds even with scope

I like how each of you went a little bit different, but still with similar builds.. I've been digging the EH1 stock lately and may end up with one if I am not careful.

I'll be interested when and if you post up both of your collective experiences with your rifles out in the field.

Sweet looking rifles! I'm also tired of hauling around my 17 lb rifle up in the mtns of WY, and will be looking to do something similar soon. Let us know if you're successful in bagging some game with them.

So far I've got about 100 rounds through each of them and they're both shooting extremely well. My opinions on the EH1 stock are that it's great, very light, if you're used to shooting a more tactical style stock this will be very easy to get comfortable behind. Also, the tempest action has been incredible so far, it's very very smooth and the bolt lift is actually easier than the defiance. The best action I've used so far except maybe my AI. A tempest action in an EH1 stock would be a pretty hard to beat "do it all" rifle.
