Gunsmithing A REALLY light tactical stock?

I`m looking for a tactical style stock for my Rem 700 LA but due to a very bad back I can`t go the normal route.
What I would like is something looking like the A5, for example, but as light as possible.
Do you know of someone who makes these kind of stocks? I guess it would have to be something in carbon fibre, unfortunately a bit expensive for me, or perhaps some kind of carbon+wood laminate?
Please help me out here guys.

I would call McMillan and ask about getting an A5 with the edge fill.

O know with the t5a group buy it was 2 months or so. But that was a quantity order. Just get an urea what you want and call manners. Tom manners is a very good guy to deal with. So is the girl that probly awnsers the phone when you call I can't remember but I think her name is Christy.

From my experience they will go outta thier way to awnser any questions and make you happy

Once and for all, you guys are the best!
I`ve sent e-mails to Manners, McMillan and Lone Wolf.
But judgeing from what you`ve written here I`ll start my discussion with Manners.
HS Precision said that it would weigh around 2 1/2 pounds without cheekpiece. The model in question is the PSV 029.
I`ll also contact the guy on Ireland, have talked to him before, great dude.

If you want an A5 light, get it from McM in edge fill. It's light as a feather. Of course lightening everything up increases the recoil quite a bit, so I hope you've thought that through too.

The rifle in question is chambered for the 308 Norma Magnum but it`s equipped with a EGW muzzle brake and that takes it down to something like a 308 win. So recoil won`t be a problem.
Plus the barrel is pretty hefty so it will never be UL rifle, I would just like to save a couple of pounds.

I have an A3 "EDGE" & it weighs exactly 2 lbs (32oz) with a one-inch recoil pad, two flush cups, & one stud.

I've used McMillan A5 with Edge fill more or less since they first became available. Excellent piece of kit and with proper contour barrel such as Tubb, medium Palma, etc. you can have a super accurate tactical rifle capable of mounting a large heavy scope such as S&B and still be at a field practical weight. Since I'm in the middle of a move I can't tell you exact weight but right around 2# sounds very close. One caveat: because of the fill, addition of adjustable comb hardware, etc, is not possible and I am not sure about flush cup swivels (ask Dick Davis at McM; possibly these can be added at the time the stock is made). If you can live with standard comb dimensions on an A5 (I add an Eagle stock pack with an extra .5 in pad for perfect comb height with 34mm S&B and Badger low rings and have no issues) this is a great way to go.

I'd rather have a lesser contour,in a lesser stock,to reap like rewards.

Noone loves A5's more than I,but light isn't their route. That is Classic country.

The deal is done! I`ve ordered one from the pse firm on Ireland and hopefully it will be here within three weeks. Should land just shy of 2 pounds.
Life would be pretty boring if you had all your rifles in order, I need at least one project to fiddle around with.
