I recently added the Sokek Solutions AT-X/C folding thumb rest. I love the idea behind it but with the stock AI grip I am not a fan as there's very little room between the hinge and your thumb. I currently have an MDT Vertical Elite Grip en route, I am hoping that the vertical grip will allow for more room for your thumb between the hinge and the rest or at least a better angle. If not I'll remove it and go back to resting my thumb on the folding stock hardware.

I’ve adopted the Swedish method of maintaining contact with thumb and forefinger on the bolt knob while using middle finger to contact the trigger. Bolt manipulation is crazy fast and I can place the tip of my middle finger on the tip of the curved trigger shoe which for me Gives him more precise trigger press. Although, I’m sure it’s all in my head…

I have the sokek too and agree with your findings. Been wanting to try this one as it puts your thumb farther forward

Oh I like that! I sent him a message to verify that it works with the folding stock and what he'd require in terms of an order to get a few over here.

Sounds good. If you need more than one to order let me know I’ll throw in. I believe someone in the Ai thread confirmed it worked with a folder too

It does but you lose the stock locking feature when folded.

Nice review. Doesn't sound like your gaining much over the AT-X, once you add the bridge, rail and hinge, except the improved bolt knob. Overall a solid rifle.

Yes, an AT-X with a bridge, rail, hinge and comp trigger has 90% of everything the AT-XC has. The bolt and action mostly make up the rest. A loaded out, lightly used 3rd Gen AT-X for $4500 or less would be a better value.

Oh well, you posted it, so you get the credit. The differences between the ATXC and the ATX are really negligible in my opinion. The extra cost isn’t worth it, especially if you can find an ATX on the previously owned market.

Apparently the older ones were better from day 1 than the post-pandemic "AT" marked actions put in the AT-X. Not sure if anyone has ever got to the bottom of this. Did they cut corners on some coatings or machining steps or something?

Not sure about that one, but I put my older AT action in an ATX chassis (aftermarket and much cheaper than retail), very glad I did. That action is slick as snot…
