Hey, guys just ordered an AT in 6.5 , my first AI ! im wondering if the AX stock conversion is worth it and if so if there is any value is selling the factory AT folder.
I planned to do the AX conversion but after playing with the AT stock I'm not really sure there are many advantages to switching. I've ran my rifle in several matches and haven't found a reason not to like it. But, I'm sure I would say that too if I had a AX stock. Play with it first, especially after getting the thumbhole skins as they dramatically change the handling (in a good way) of the stock.

That's a valid concern. The factory AX has the "tall" action rail, and you need a 1.5" mount to clear the front rail with a 56mm objective. So the buttstock was designed more around that than "slammed" low rails and 0.8" rings which seem to be in vogue on comp guns for some reason. Thanks those are some definite advantages for sure my concern is the cheek height I’m worried if I buy a 1.35” spuhr mount I’ll have to upgrade to a 1.5” mount since the ax appears to have a higher cheek weld. Any thoughts on this?
I believe so. The intent of the design was so that people using an AT who already had the low rail and rings wouldn’t have to buy a new mount when they got the AX buttstock.Awesome so with this I could still keep and use my 1.35” mount?
The cheek piece from samb300 is def nice it def cuts some height off ...I’ll let ya know when the 1.35 S&B Spuhr arrives with S&B 3-20 US for height. That’s a 20 moa high action rail on an AT LE with AX butt stockOkay thanks for answering all my questions I’m this is all great info
Anyone running the AT with AX stock and the high action rail with a S&B 3-20 US? If so what mount did ya go with?
So it seems to me everyone is running the area 419 muzzle break. I’m considering that or the og AI break
So with the AI brake or badger break do they need to be installed by a smith or are they user friendly like the self timing brakes. Also I have a 6.5 will the .30 AI muzzle
Break still work efficiently
In regards to the 30 cal break on a 6.5, yes. There’s no noticeable difference in felt recoil with a larger brake on a smaller diameter bore.So with the AI brake or badger break do they need to be installed by a smith or are they user friendly like the self timing brakes. Okay it’s a possibility but I’m wondering if the the oversized break will offer any performance?
Tims: The AIAX rear does not come with LOP spacers as the LOP is adjustable, take a look at the left side of your AX stock and see.
What is the part number or link for the spacers ?
Mine came with spacers for LOP?Tims: The AIAX rear does not come with LOP spacers as the LOP is adjustable, take a look at the left side of your AX stock and see.

Yes that's the green version
Cool thanks do most folks use both pieces in the kit to get the correct lop
Yup all the way closed and both spacers worked for me I’m almost 6’2”Completely depends on you. I don't like my ax stock fully adjusted open so I have it about halfway then use a spacer or two to finish getting the correct lop. I think I use 1 large spacer and 1 thin
With the stock fully extended you may need to use spacers to get the correct LOP . When you convert to the AX stock it will be shorter.
You have a UNS and located your scope off the back of that, given the available rail space up front? And that dictated your cheek2stock and LOP?
Anyone use just standard scope rings maybe ARC rings or Spuhr rings on their AT AX conversion rather than a 1 piece ?
