Those of you running 308 AXSR mags…

Y’all ever run into issues after reassembly where it doesn’t want to load more than 7 in the mag?

I took apart my three mags to clean em and after reassembly, they each wouldn’t take more than 7 rounds. They only go back together one way and I finger fucked it enough to get 2 of the 3 back to normal but can’t seem to get the 3rd mag working. I’ve cleaned plenty of mags and never had this kind of shit happen.

Anyone else run into this? ..or am I the only retard?

Yeah, mine did this too. I ooga booga’d mine apart and inevitably fucked them up in the process.

Make sure your spring is straight up/down and isn’t canted so the spring stacks weird/cocks the follower at an angle when rounds are loaded in the mag.
Also make sure you tweak the closed ends of the “W” of the spring so the rear of the follower presents evenly with the front (pull the closed ends out from the center of the spring).

This concludes my period of instruction. If that didn’t make any sense lmk and I can take some pictures.

I completely forgot to update my situation. Yea after I calmed down and pulled my screwdriver out of my bench top, I poured a drink and took a closer look. Stupid me but stupid issue. 😂

Now I just need to get some spare mag baseplates because I cracked mine by dropping it on concrete during a reload.

15 MC in 300NM. Now to track down brass, decide on glass and pray the atf hurries my Magnus approval.

Question though, really wanted a LE model in two tone, but without becoming a LEO I’ll settle for going a little two tone on a standard model, RRS aux plate and black barrels in the future. So where does one locate the black grip back strap?

Cheapest option is to buy a second complete rifle in a complimentary color and put them in the safe overnight with candles, a nice dinner, and slow music. Open the safe the next morning and you'll usually find this:

If you don't want to spend that much, you can buy a set of plastics in a different color. I've purchased full sets of AX plastics from mile high but it took a while as they were backordered. Lately people seem to have better luck finding them in stock at sporting services UK.

Hello AI Snobs,

Is a 3-12 enough optic for a 308 AI? The 308 is wildly inefficient compared to all these whizbang 6mm hotrods these days.
3-12? Must be a new model atacr, ZCO or TT?? Certainly your not considering using an optic of the poors 🤔

I had 4-16 on my AIAT and for hunting it was decent. Have the 4-20 now. Depends what you plan to do with it I suppose.

Personally I’m more into deciding what I want on lower power now. Then decide on upper. As I can always turn down the power. A 7-35 atacr will smash the crap out of a 4-16 atacr for range and ID. But if I’m hunting I might appreciate the 4 vs 7 in low light and closer ranges

Yes. Competed an entire season with a 3-12 on a 308.

Wouldn't mind a 3-18 or 3-20 but if you have a 3-12 it will do.

Sorry for the non AI content. I'll make up for it with a 16.5" 6.5 creed.

All I can afford is the poors

I’m a happy aics 1.5 poor… Awaiting a new barrel for a 700 action that will be mated to the chassis and awaiting a stock for the m24 action thats currently mated. Will switch when parts arrive. Really happy after taking it out a few times to play.

I know I need a suppressor, it's next on the list.
But I have a question, has anyone had a barrel just not like a muzzle device? This 308 shoots lights out with 175 fggm. But when I screw on an area 419 brake it opens up to 2.5ish moa. Take the brake off back to .5-.75 moa. Brake shows no signs of strike. All my other guns love 419's, but this one hates it.

I have an admittedly dumb question to ask those who have cerakoted their AXMC or AXSR.

The adjustable rear pad has a wheel that loosens the pad. I have seen that some cerakoted those as well to match the rest of the rifle. How is that done. Can you take that assembly apart to get at the wheel?

It happens sometimes when you put a brake on. I had it happen to me on a couple of barrels and depending on the brake or brake and suppressor combo the barrel harmonics didn't like it to where it shot like total shit. Recently, I put Dead Air Brake with a Silencerco Hyrbid via KeyMo on my 300NM barrel. It opened up the group to over 2 MOA. Took the whole brake and QD setup off and made it into a direct thread Hybrid and it shot fine. Also had a APA LB Gen 2 on my 6.5CM barrel and shot like crap, took it off and put a suppressor on, and it shot fine.

Thank you for that. I've had great luck where my brakes always helped, this is new. This barrel is such a hammer I don't want to ruin it. Any chance a different brake could help?

It could, you never know until you put one on. Also, sometimes the amount of torque applied to the brake/ mount will dramatically affect things as well. With the self timing brakes it basically is like a tuner. I recently switched over to a APA FB on the 300NM barrel and it's shooting fine.
