I’ve got 400 rounds through my Proof carbon prefit 6.5x47L barrel now and it is really impressing me. It’s even slightly more precise and consistent than my Gradous barrel I replaced for it.

As long as I don’t make a mistake, it very consistently prints 5 shot groups in the .3” range, and doesn’t really change when it gets hot. I’ve noticed that the first shot after installing the barrel will be low, which can be seen in the group above. It isn’t cold bore, it only happens for the first shot after the barrel is replaced. This, and it grouping about 1 to 1.2 mil lower than the 3 steel barrels in 2 different calibers I’ve shot before in the AI are the two big differences I’ve noticed with the carbon barrel that I haven’t seen with steel barrels. If you’re interested in the Proof carbon prefit and are wondering about how it performs, I’d highly recommend it based on my experience with this barrel, as well as a carbon prefit AR15 barrel I’ve been using for a while as well.

@clubsportmark I’m not sure, but I’m pretty confident that the AX butt weighs more. I think they’re pretty close though. I could be wrong though.

Color match is perfect to me.

I float my thumb and don't grip the pistol grip much, so it made no diffrence other than looks to me. I honestly never ran the rifle with the thumbhole kit...

I do like the looks of the old thumbhole style AI's, those particular ones are on their way to a really good home in Wyoming now

Now if my F*&^ing Tangent Theta would show up this rifle will be complete.

How did you modify the keymod nut? FYI the kemod nut angle is 100° and the AI KeySlot screw is 90°, so you'll likely have a very limited contact surface unless you machined the nut to match.

Yeah I didn’t realize that until I started the nut. Took some time with a dremel and file to make them fit right. Seems like it will work but will have to see in the future. I’ve shot it few times and it worked good.

AI has their own propriety spec with KeySlot, and they have tested and proven it is superior to KeyMod and MLok. I highly doubt they would make special hardware to allow the use of third party KeyMod accessories.

Anyone can suggest me what , Scope Mount BiPod, Sling should I put on it. ( I might go with Tangent Theta scope Gen 3)

I'm a huge Spuhr fan, when it comes to scope mounts. Buy once, cry once...although an AXMC might make me cry a long time. That's a decent down payment on a house around here.

Dark Earth is the best AI color. Just ask @MysizeisMAGNUM , he will tell you.
