Shot 60 rounds of the Berger and 60 of the Hornady. The Hornady was lights out same ragged hole. The Berger on the other hand was a bit inconsistent. I thought it was me but the Hornady shot amazing. I haven't tried 147s.
I have really good outcomes with the Hornady 140. I also have recently tried FGMM using the 130 Berger bullet and it is also lights out in terms of accuracy and consistency.

So, AW's seem to be harder to find currently. I've run across a 97 year production, non folding, with what appears to be the original, fluted barrel. I'm seriously considering the purchase.
Pretty much like new, very possibly under 100 rounds fired. Excellent shape skins and has an AI dovetail scope mount included.
Anyone have any idea what fair market value would be? It seems like a hard item to price currently.

It's truly a sellers market on the AW line of rifles. If it's a AWM/AWSM newish rifles have been going for around 8-10K. Short action AW, 5-6K wouldn't be unheard of. I have only seen a couple come up for sale in the past year or so. IMO they are the best rifles AI has ever made.
This is all so interesting to me. I seemed to have got the most picky ass 6.5 AI barrel.
It hates anything less than 140. It seems to be inconsistent with the 140’s. However it loves the norma 143’s and the 147 eld-m’s.
Have no idea why my barre only seems to like heavy 6.5 loads.
If its a welded chassis, that can be worth more to a collector because there was less made. I forget what year they went to the bonded chassis. Also if you have the aluminum transport case that adds alot of value

I use a 7.5 twist Bartlein Heavy Palma and it shoots 130 and 140 grain with no issues.
Wish I could say that with my 1:8. With the FGMM 130 gr Berger load it’s a 2 moa gun.

I don't believe it is twist rate related but not sure. I would think it would be the reamer used to create the chamber. My barrel was done by Dave Tooley. I have another one on my AT that the late Robert Gradous chambered for me and it is also a hammer
Count me as Jelly. Wish this barrel shot that well.
Again I can’t complain too much because I can get the same result as above with heavier bullets, just wish it liked the lighter stuff as well.
If they make anything factory with a 140smk try that. I have yet to see a 140smk shoot bad out of anything and even through all my load development across 3 cartridges my worst group had been .78". (Had to check my notes after doing dev on my 6.5creed barrel)
I know BCC (Fritz) is not offering any 223 Conversions for RH or LH. I have not sent him any LH bolts personally to date as everything we are converting right now is from new ATx and AX RH rifles. LH shouldn't be an issue for Magnum conversion. I can't speak to the 223 stuff.
I have a Bartlein BB Blank that I want to chamber in 6.5 PRC if I can get a LH bolt for my MC. Patiently waiting
