Personally, I think it’d be interesting is they took a shot at designing a lighter rifle, or put the same action in a light chassis or stock.

But I’m no military sniper nor a PRS whiz either.

You would be surprised how light the ATX Chassis is. It’s the brick sized action that is the difference. The old Cooper action was the option, but robust reliability is what was necessary for the military standard. Other actions will give you the “Jenny Craig” weight loss plan, but don’t change what AI has perfected…. Just an opinion of someone without a clue

Finally had a chance to get the Ultra 338 out for a test ride; I think I like it. I did a zero with the Hornady 225gr ELDM, then offset data on the 225gr TAP and the 212gr ELD-X.

Trigger pack just in case, extra fring pin spring and firing pin. Extra quick lock screw.

I haven't needed any of the above yet

I didnt with this one actually as I swapped scopes at the same time when that cover made

Axmc has a 3 position safety axsr is a 2
Axmc is standard with a 30moa top rail axsr is 20
Axsr has integrated arca in both the receiver and forend
Axsr has different bolt lug geometry
Axsr comes with the comp trigger not the og trigger in the previous ai's
Axsr has different buttstock adjustments

Both use the same barrels and mags

Are you sure the trigger in the AXSR is the comp? I thought it was it's own thing, not the old one and not the comp.

It's not interchangeable with the comp trigger, but the guts are supposedly similar.

I am and I missed that. The last message was SPF.

It's the small firing pin. And the main reason I went AXSR over AXMC even though I liked the 3pos safety more.

So guess they aren't that rare, just checked and EO has quite a few right now, just more expensive than here.

The AXSR is small FP, I've shot everything from 6.5 creedmoor up to 33xc in mine with no issues.

Been dreaming of owning an AI since I was a little kid, growing up playing every video games that featured an AI sniper, it’d always be the first gun i’d level up or modify or spend actual money on either unlocking or applying skins on..

Now I can say that this one is mine ! Thanks to a bunch of guys on here for the inspiration

The Axmc would offer quick change capability.

I’m pretty sure choosing the mrad over any AI results in instantly being banned from the site.

Only one I could think of is to be able to get any barrel you want. 1.250 for the AX338 and the MC needs the larger 1.350 shank. Only a couple of barrel manufacturers make that size and the blanks are expensive. Hence why you see most MC and SR guys run AI or Proof prefits. And yes, I know there are a couple of smiths out there that can do a collar setup for the 1.250 barrels to work.

I had a flat rail on forend , 20 moa stock rail on action.

Was getting wonky poi/poa with my xii so I Dremel down a full size 20 moa rail for the clip on.

Currently running stock action rail , 1.5” scope mount , cut down forend 20moa rail. 1.3” center xii


Previous set up with zero moa rail :

The arca rail i sourced from forums, googled the RRS model name and found a listing on ar15 forums, signed up, messaged the guy and was lucky it was still available.

It's going to depend how sensitive your clipon is to angular misalignment. My PVS 30 is perfectly happy riding on a standard section of pic rail, and a PVS 27 should be similar. Thermals may be more sensitive.

A friend of mine is absolutely amazed after shooting my AW in 308. He thinks about getting an AT. What are your thoughts comparing those two? What are the main differences? I know about the quick change barrel and another trigger. Anything more? Are they comparable by any means?

Never handled an AT, not sure what to tell him...

To me personally the AW is the holy grail after owning her for a few months. Rest of my rifles stays in the safe since then and even sold most of them recently.

Took the TBAC out to Range 4 for a 1,000yd day; heading OCONUS so I won't be shooting for a while. Winds were at 10-15 mph. What's unique is the range is in a bowl so the 10mph at range level is tame considering the real wind at ground level (above us) was 20-25mph, which is unusual for us here in NoVA.

Started the session shooting my 600yrd steel to check velocity / true. After I shot my first string (just under the red stripe), I let the firing line shoot my steel (you'd think I'd know better by now).
