I think he means, keep track of the stuff in the case, not the rifle. Although I don't quite get that statement either.
The only thing you can potentially lose is the allen wrench under the cheek piece. The rest is captured, nothing is loose. (You just loosen the screw not remove it, a 1/2 turn does it) Really, how fast are you looking to change barrels, it's pretty much one of the fastest caliber change systems out there. And his POI shifts are more than reasonable. No one claims you can change caliber and be in the same place. Being within 2 MOA in any direction is a huge win, it's all different. If you were at a public range, you can easily change calibers on the line during a cease fire, fine tune the zero in 3 rounds or less and be up running without missing a beat.
But you have 3 of everything, and then the cleaning kit, drag bag, sling, rod and bipod, so honestly there is not much else. Everything has it's place inside the case. It is huge, but it is a deployment case, so you are suppose to set that to the side and use the drag bag, or another case, as the deployment case is not meant for casual transport. That is why they put the drag bag in there. Sure if you are just setting it up for someone you have to deal with it, but once you have it, put the case to the side, throw the rifle in your vault and use the bag for transport. The wife may not like the case in the garage but hey, that is what you are paying for, all that in one package.
It's no heavier than an AX in another caliber, you can compete with it, you just have to practice and get used to it. They are making 260REM barrels right now, (I think they are currently available in limited quantity) I was actually gonna use mine for the Oregon Sniper Challenge but in the end just used a straight up AX in 308 as it was ready to go. The 338LM is extra heavy because of the barrel, but 19# is not uncommon for an AI 338 after it is all set up. Who is gonna compete with a 338 anyway, that is the extreme end of the heavy scale. These have slimmer profile barrels to help shave a bit of weight from them.
I basically plan on starting to use mine more actively, in the videos and what not, I don't see it as being any different than any one of my other AIs, I was just really waiting for the BEAST to show up from NF before i really started using it more so.
Everything one I have seen set up at Mile High has been an absolute hammer. They really knocked it out of the park accuracy wise, which I think is a testament to Bartlein and Dave Tooley.
