Rifle Scopes Advice on very durable Optic.

This is so much fun -- it's refreshing when someone grabs the knob on the ol' bubba meter and turns it up to '11'. This mongoloid destroys a high-end scope with his ham-fisted dickskinners (my money is on that he just rattled some set screws loose on some zero stop kind of turret and that's why the elevation isn't dialing, and since the directions are in English and not DERP he can't figure out how to fix it), then he goes on to volunteer his cousin-raping exploits for consideration by the group before informing us that victim counselling in his little backwater hamlet consists of giving the poor girl icecream.

And the coup de gras: he admonishes our masculinity and/or sexuality because we don't use our optics to club our cousin over the noggin and drag her off to our cave.

Definitely a troll having a piss but I think it's for the benefit of all

Nicely done, I think you did a fine job of covering pretty much all of the open points :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

(Shit.....I missed being able to do the countdown......Oh well, I'll just have to be patient....there will be others....)

I feel like we all know this guy.. all of us have someone in mind. The guys that act/talk the most macho are the ones with testosterone defficientcies. All the single mother talk... my $ is on, he doesn't know his dad.

Dude it's that one queer from Alaska from like 8 yrs ago who had m40a1 stocks and 8lbs of electrical tape on every single one of his muzzles. Man was he a fag.

Aimpoint CompM5 with 6x Magnifier.

>Ultra durable, salt water dive ready, no POI shift (due to optic) at extreme temperatures. The Swedes know winter.
> 50K hrs on one alkaline AAA, so always-on, just change the battery every couple years. (Or every year if you're OCD like me).
> Absolute co-witness with stock irons with twist mount and 39mm OEM spacer as pictured (So if you break something somehow, which sounds like might be an issue for you from time to time, your rifle is still operational.
> Aimpoint combat proven and has many military contracts for their products, so vendor continuity is robust.

This is my 3rd optics setup for this gun, and by far my favorite. Tried various variable/high magnification optics, but hated not having a true 1x pass through. Even a 1-6X variable wasn't as crisp as a glassed tunnel. Added an offset Aimpoint T-1 red dot at 45 degrees but didn't like shooting canted like a YouTuber for all CQB shooting. Once you start shooting close, you generally will have several close range targets (it. shooting match or going into a building. Holding your gun to the side for the duration of that exercise is dumb. Although, if it's dumb, but it works, it's not dumb. Just didn't work for me, might for you). Also annoyingly heavy but i know you mentioned you don't care about that.

How good are your eyes? Not sure what your main type of shooting is, but 1x is unbeatable for indoor/close range acquisition and follow-up shots.
6X was enough for me up to 750m on a 20" wide rectangular plate. Beyond that, there may be better tools for the job for you. But 0-750, I would choose no other gun, this is my absolute go-to rifle if i had to run out the door with little information. From clearing rooms to medium distance engagements; versatile platform with this optics setup.

I do a fair amount of suppressed shooting, don't want to hijack this thread, but there are some particulars to suppressing a SCAR 17, one of which was mentioned (SCAR 17 can damage weak optics). This can be even more prevalent when shooting suppressed. There's also muzzle device mounting issues, pm if you want some of my experiences.

Hope this helped.

You clearly didnt read this thread

I mean, I read all the posts on the first 5 pages. He said he was mounting an optic mostly on a 300 min mag after talking about SCARs for a while in his OP. This won't help him for that mile shot, or the the 300 WM, agreed.

But, he mentioned he has a couple of 17s, and that owners should speak up about durable optics and how they set up their SCARs. This might be a useful data point for him in his decision making process for one of his SCARs. Thought I'd share.

Dude's banned...

OK, some of you guys who have SCAR17s chime in.

Is nailing a 20" target at 1760 yards with a 308 semi complete bullshit or is it reasonably doable?

I'm voting for complete bullshit
I couldn’t get through all five pages of this bull shit, but if you loaded up a bunch of mags pointed the barrel at the moon and started dropping them in like a endless supply of artillery you should have no problem hitting a 20” target at a mile.......unless you’re Budley then it can be done with one cold bore shot.

The guy was really focused on some odd things. Dads, ice cream, Sammich maker etc. some sort of cartoonish freak.

S&B called and said he was banned from owning anything with their name on it including TShirts!?

I'm a little disappointed I missed out on this and sorry he isn't around any more because I'm really curious how he was going to hunt upstate NY with a rifle that's illegal to possess in the state unless you are part of the LE community or own an FFL. My guess would be neither.

Damn, I hope I haven't missed my ship ride, on the Titanic!

Looks like I did. Oh well, at least I was on board for the Buddly train.
