It's not hunting or trying to kill anything, it's for fun and it's going to happen. I video all the long distance shots with .308 I take so I'll have it on video. My goal is a target big enough that I can see at a mile and 16" targets are still pretty big through 15 mag, but small enough to be an accomplishment. Have faith, it'll happen...hahah, might take 4 years but it's happening.

I'll repeat what I said, emotions took over the thread and a bunch of girls assumed and added to it but here's what I said. The piece of shit died after around 40 rds of being on the Scar 17. Add, embellish, lie and assume all you want after that but that's what happened. Was it a lemon from the factory? I could care less for excuses or BS, I paid so it better live up to the price and to what the company told me. If it doesn't, then they better make good and they didn't. Their reply was, "Send it in, we'll look at it and IF (here's the big word) we DEEM it a defect, we'll take care of it". What kind of bullshit is that?

you clearly don't understand how business or warranty works at all. that's 1000% the normal reaction from any company idgaf what it is. rifle, scope, headphones, TV, everything. send it in for warranty. if it's fucked you get a new or repaired one. no one's just gonna take some fuck's word their shit is broken sight unseen and send out a new $3k scope without having the new one back
for what it's worth. Kahles and Vortex gave you the EXACT same reply. the difference is vortex almost expects to see an HST with issues, kahles doesnt (though they do happen with every high end scope and we see it here)
I thought about the Elcans but then that won't be something I can use on bolts, I can but it'll be and look retarded. I want it mainly for two of my bolts, the win mag and the pretty, little 6mm. I won't be using it on the Scar all the time, I just want a good 15 mag for it and if I'm going for that, I might as well go for a 25 mag or so.

Alright, seriously now. Can you please explain about what you said on the S&Bs? I've always heard nothing but good things except for the tunneling at low mag which doesn't bother me. I recently heard about the lower mag not being as good or as bright as the higher mag on them and since I shoot on 15x all the time, that would bother me. I won't need anything higher than 20mag really but it's good to have it. How are the S&Bs unreliable and how is S&B with warranty?

Killer! Correct, I don't care about the lower mag and the tunneling. I'm not sure what the person reviewing meant, but he said the clarity and the quality wasn't as good as when you got to 20 and above but I hardly ever use 20. I don't think he was talking about the size of the reticle. I'll try to find the video. Hahah, I'm saving the picture, thanks for that.
Historically, S&Bs were better optimized at high magnification. When you design a variable magnification optical system, it is not uncommon for it to be better optimized at some magnifications than others.
Newer S&Bs are pretty well optimized across the board (anything newer than the 5-25x56), but older designs were not at their best in the lower thrid of the mag range (approximately).

Aside from the tunneling in the 5-25 PMII at low mag, S&B is pretty much the gold standard for a reason. I wouldn’t trust that reviewer.
If a NF broke on a scar, it was probably one of the very few bad ones that got out door. I’ve dealt with Nightforce customer service (not a fault with the scope) and they are excellent.
Let me see if I understand, are you saying all scopes or most 4-25, 5-25 etc will not be as good on the lower magnifications? Take the Razor Gen II 4.5-27x56 for example. I don't see a difference in the image and clarity until I get past 20 wich I never use but on the lower magnifications it looks as good as up to 20. Are you saying this scope is like what you described above? I haven't noticed it if it is. I'm mainly concerned about 8-15 mag which is what I use the majority of the time. I'm only interested in the 5-25 S&Bs so are the newer ones better optimized as you said or is the 5-25 line still the same? How can they improve newer models but the 5-25 model is the same? Don't they use the same glass on the 5-25?

That's my understanding of S&B, gold standard and all that crap and it's what I was going to buy before I bought the turd but I did look through the turd first at Shot and was impressed. Don't get me wrong, the K624Doorstop is a beautiful optic and it looks killer, it's just for those that call their wife's "The boss" or "The warden"..and were "bullied" as kids.
The tunneling has never bothered me, another scope I looked through that impressed me was the Steiner Military but lately I been reading they're not as good. Thanks, looks like S&B is back on the list.

Only complaints I’ve ever heard about the M5xi is glass quality in the 5-25, but as anyone here will tell you, a lot of the high end glass discussion is in the users eyeball.
I have a 3-15 with H59 and it has treated me well.
Not all scopes. Different companies make different compromises and as technology develops these compromises become less pronounced. At very high magnification, you get an effect of the shrinking exit pupil, so it becomes difficult to judge.
I think the 5-25x S&B is at its best above 12x or so. It is still veyr good between 8x and 12x. It is still a S&B. However, it is better optimized above 12x. Newere S&Bs like the 3-20x50 and 3-27x56 seem better at low power than the 5-25x56.
"Same glass" is a terrible way to think of optics. Same glass would yield the same results if you were talking about windows in your house. For an optical system with many elements, the phrase really has no meaning.

Where did I say, "my sammich maker SAID"? I'll explain. My wife (sammich maker/dish washer) shoots with me a lot, she told me not to get the turd K624doorstop when I looked at it. Her words were, "that looks too fragile and it's light, that can't be good". I figured, what the hell does a sammich maker know about these things? Turns out, she was correct and I was the retard. I never heard the end of it from her and rightfully so because I told her she didn't know about this crap. I then got the Razor, I loved it out of the box, I put it on the Scar for 60 rds and then later on for another 200 or so and it was fine. I care what my wife thinks and what she likes because she's my wife and I love her. Why does this need an explanation?
I like shooting with her because she helps out nd writes all the crap down while testing powders and bullets, she enjoys shooting too and hunting. She will be using it as well so I care what she likes. She's not telling me but I would like to get something she would also enjoy. Two scopes I will be buying in the future are S&B and a NF because I always wanted both. I love the Razor and I know it will hold up but being I only have 2 high end optics, all different. I would like to get another different one as well. I might just end up with another Razor, I never said I wouldn't. I just want an S&B or a Steiner Military since I looked at both the three days I was at Shot the last few years. I actually been eyeing the Steiner Military for a couple of years but called a store (one of the vendors here) and was told that the Military has some turret issues or that they lose zero on some.

I brought that up and was told that it was indeed the Military line and also that the turrets were "mushy" I think is the word he used. I know that the Military has excellent eye relief, it was very easy to get a good picture while holding it by hands alone. It also feels good and heavy and sturdy.
