I appreciate you coming on here and shedding light on this. I did exactly what you thought, I tried to add it on as a separate order. This all makes a little more sense than the short response I got from CS about it not being possible. I also appreciate the offer to refund shipping, but I never went through with placing the rail order. Once again, appreciate the offer and you coming on here to clear things up.

Getting on forums as a business response is walking through a minefield. I own two manufacturing companies and figure out packaging of some pretty difficult, large items, but the OP felt comfortable telling me I had 419's gonads in my mouth because I presented realistic scenarios as to why he didn't get his request fulfilled. All just to find out that he never even ordered the part and none of this mattered.

Since I'm constantly told we live in a Democracy now, I motion that the OP be thrown into the Pit Of Shame™
 
you could do away with the shipping and go there and pic it up and at the same time give them a piece of your mind . save what ever shipping is by spending 3 or 5 times that on gas , but you will have the satisfaction of knowing you gave them whats what lol pay the shipping be done with it . if you drive out to them please video tape the trip I really could use something to laugh at that's new and refreshing ..

You misunderstood me, I am not mad about them not shipping me a rail I did not order. The frustration was lack of communication on the reasoning initially with some auto response from customer service. Yes, Craig was nice enough to come on here and clarify stuff and I also appreciate that.
So, why would you worry about ordering a rail that you didn't need, because, you know, you already have one.
You throw a temper tantrum like a 2 year old, then admit that you didn't even order that damn rail that they couldn't put in the box, and now claim that you already have one.

Yes I did, because I could not figure out how the hell they could not fit that little ass ARCA rail in that big ass box. The generic ass response I got in email did not tell me shit and I could not get in touch with anybody on the phone. You damn right I did not order a 1.5oz rail and that cost $45 and pay $16 shipping.

More accurate description would be I bought a press that was on backorder for 4-6 weeks, then decided I need a ARCA rail and asked if they could just throw it in the box with the press whenever it shipped to save me additional $16 shipping on a $45 rail. Seems like a pretty damn reasonable request.

I’m not Area 419’s biggest customer by a long shot.

But I have bought a number of products from them and in each and every case I’ve been extremely happy both the product and the company. They are rock solid, IMO

Like it or not acting like that doesn't earn you points with anyone you just look like someone no one would look forward to dealing with in the future.

If you're an adult it's pretty sad you ever made this thread. I'm not a nut gobbling Area419 fanboy but I own some of their great products and it's widely known their CS is second to none in the business.

I emailed them about the size of a thread protector and the idea I had to further machine it to make sure it would work. When my small cheap part arrived it was exactly what I planned for no extra charge. Yeah it was easy, but someone had to program an extra step and stop the normal production for 10-15min and machine time isn't cheap. It was a small thing in the end but shows how they operate.

Edit; I posted this after reading Craig's response, upon further reading OP is a fuck boy.

Got up this morning and it started out good. Day continued to go pretty good. Then I find this. All played out and I'm reading it like binge watching Ted. Some days are winners, boys. Take it all in because they all can't be this good.

For a minute there I thought it was some sort of twisted humblebrag that he bought an Area 419 press.


And I think I'll just leave this here. Just in case someone is wondering.

I did contact them via email and further tried to contact them via phone multiple times with no luck. I was pissed and wanted a answer, I got a very elaborate answer from them and acknowledged I was thankful. Sorry for not wanting to spend $16 shipping on a $45 rail, you are more than welcome to spend your money however you choose.

It's too late for damage control you already acted like an impatient twat. Normal Adults ask more questions when they don't understand it's ultimately your fault in the end for leaving the situation confused.

It's a small company not a multinational conglomerate with a huge call center, hang up and call back no big deal.

In the end you didn't even order it from the looks of it so it's not even an issue.

Ain't no damage control here, as I said, I tried reaching out multiple times and never could get through and by email as well and never got a response back after the initial exchange, all avenues short of writing a letter was attempted....guess that's what I should have done...knew I forgot something.

To answer here, our assembly and shipping (along with manufacturing, QC, all of it) happens in the same building. We control our processes. This inconvenience to OP is one that we have built controls around. Again, an inconvenience, and everything we do isn't perfect all the time in every situation, but we have invested a great deal to keep things under one roof whenever possible.
Sounds good. We do the same here at my factory. We have a looked into warehousing to help us expand (physical limitation), however we are working on a system to help the overall picture.
Completely understand how you do "value add" on subsequent orders, as you stated. Often its a software limitation rather than having ham-fist-joe out the back randomly smashing products into a box, and yeeting them into the delivery truck.
