Ok, so I purchased an AI MK III .308 right before I left for Afghanistan. Now I'm over here and looking to buy everything for it so it will be ready to go when I get back. I plan to use the gun mostly in the prone shooting from 100-1000 yards. I'm looking to get these items for it and would appreciate the help filling in the gaps.

1. Atlas Bipod with the AI spigot
2. Vortex Razor Gen II 4.5-27 is my top choice right now but not 100%
3. Base: keep the one that came on it or swap it out? It came with a zero MOA base.
4. What scope rings?
5. Need a rear bag and open to suggestions.
6. It has a 20" barrel that I plan to get threaded to run my specwar on. Where should I get it threaded?
7. What cleaning supplies should I get for it? I'm not new to shooting at all but this is my first precision rifle.
8. Feel free to include any other items you think I will need to get going with this sweet rifle.

Thanks in advance for your help!

If you want to gain some MOA, you can buy a Spuhr mount or get an AI mount that will give you 18 MOA, which would be all you need in a 308. So that settles your mount/ring questions. As for the rear bag, get whatever you want. Triad tactical has a good selection. You can get it threaded at a local reputable gun smith. Cleaning supplies? It's an AI. It doesn't need much, in my opinion.

Base / Rings - start with the question - how much travel does the optic have?

Cleaning supplies - any cleaning thread you look at here will be applicable. That said, a bore guide, a coated rod, a jag, a good copper solvent, patches, and some Wipe Out are basically what you're looking for.

Threading - assuming you have the tools (if you don't consider getting them) spin the tube off and send it to GAP or any other competent smith on this board.

Rear bag - make your own, you've got the time. It isn't rocket science - 'bout the height of your fist with the thumb extended, base a little bigger than your fist, sew a bag from an old pant leg (make it double thick on the ends), fill with with poly pro pellets.

Do you have a sling / bi pod / reloading gear / components / log book / Field Density Altitude Compensator / Kestrel / Mil Dot Master / Ballistic Software / solar powered calculator / compass / protractor / mechanical pencil / ball point pen / spotter / tripod / cradle / ruck to haul that (and more) in?

Bipod, good choice. Scope mount, do you have any reason not to go SPUHR. Cleaning gear, like said above. Sling, look at TAB Gear. Data books, reloading eequipment and components and ammo. Gas to the range and enjoy burning out your first barrel.
